Most of the aftermarket options for testarossas with spline drive wheels remind me too much of the ones you find on all the Fiero fakes around here in SoCal. Finally I found a set of 18" wheels that resemble the original knockoff wheels, And I think they look great!

Motoworx makes knockoff wheels for other vintage cars and they've been making them for awhile. Heres their website. If you click on the Home tab they talk about their casting process. i dont know enough about wheel manufacturing to know if they use good methods.

    http://motoworx.typepad.com/my_weblog/testarossa/

They can do these for $3500 set of 4 plus shipping from South Africa. The Vintage Wheel Store in San Diego imports their cobra knockoff replicas and can get these for us if there is interest. We may be able to put a group discount together if we get a few TR owners together.

They can also do these for five-bolt TRs if you like the older look. What do you think?

Nice wheels, not blingy like some others I've seen.

Discounts always get people interested. What sort of volume would we need to get a decent discount?

Motoworx responded to my questions about group buy specifics and how the wheels are made.

He can do a 12% discount if five sets or more are ordered at once...that puts them close to $3000/set! Still waiting to hear from Vintage Wheels about their markup for getting them to the USA.

If you are interested, please PM me.

Is this the typical way cast alloys are made?

    >>>

The rims are made from cast centers and spun outers.

The centers are shrunk into the spun outers and then fully robot welded.

Are the pictures from two different TRs?

One has double flying mirrors and the other not. :)

Yes...two different TRs. He has sold them to several folks with TRs in South Africa.

I will ask him about the weight of each wheel.

It says near the bottom of the page that they "can be finished with either bolt on or spline drive configuration. Our wheels will also accept the original centre cap from either of the aforementioned configurations".

These wheels look stunning - I'd love to see a shot of the 5-bolt version.

Shaikzeep, are you saying that Motoworx made those too or a place in the UK made them?

In any case, the group buy is still valid even if shipped to different places. Here are the direct shipping prices they quoted me:

Sydney Aus. $us 105.00 per rim
Ackland NZ $us 100.00 per rim
LAX CA $us 110.00 per rim

This is plus customs, duties, and taxes. I imagine Europe and UK shipping rates would be similar.

    Again, PM me if interested.

these probably are compmotives I have them in 16" and 17" under my 328 resp 308 trackcar. Unfortunately they stopped production some years ago. But maybe with a group buy it's possible to order again?
