Hello, just wanted to share for my next project car, I've decided to create a Porsche Sport Classic Boxster out of my 986. I'm adding new Litronic Xenon HL, LED RDL, clear lens, all new trimmings, new spoiler and diffuser, speedster humps, new paint job in Sport Classic gray, double racing stripes, and gloss blacked rims. Car just went to paint over the weekend, can't wait. Stay tuned for finished product...

2010 color (L63A) Sport Classic Gray

    Cheers

    Back from Paint... looking great...
I just have to get the new trims back on, some painted gloss black like grills in front, attach the LEDs, side clear lens, license plate led, add the rear diffuser, add vinyl stripes, paint the calipers yellow with new labels, and get the rims gloss black... a few more weeks for completion, still alot of lil details still need to be done. But this being my 5th car project, will be one of my best thus far for sure!

    Cheers

Thanks, its the Panamera 2010 color (L63A) Sport Classic Gray same as the 2010 911 Sport Classic.

Thanks Greg, the color looks like primer with gloss, lol, but with the black accents and racing stripes, it should look pretty sweet. Still need to put the speedster hump on as that has the same color!
Been sick with a cold so I can't do much this week, the weekend should be interesting.

    Cheers

Don't do the black rims... they 'jumped the shark' 5 (maybe 10) years ago...

...they 'jumped the shark', ...still working on this reference???

Anyways, appreciate the wheels as it is now, but I know for the look I want, the core rim has to be gloss black.

With the core wheel being black, undecided on whether the crests should be black or colored.... decisions, decisions!
PS just bought a M5 as my daily driver, wickedly fast (and mpg to show!)

Hi Greg the center wheel piece will be painted black and I already have a new set of black crest to go with it. Should look sweet.

CONGRATS on the M5, I drove a friend's before and that thing flies for a sedan!
    Do post and share.

    Cheers back...

Was refering to all black wheels. Even my SC has gloss black centered polished rim Fuchs. With a black crest.

Maybe the term "jumped the shark" has jumped the shark... ha

I had a master plan to build a Boxster Sport Classic with racing stripes and black wheels, then fell in love with the way the color turned out and now I'm on the fence whether to stripe it or not and just leave it in the lovely Dove Gray color. Racing stripes look good on coupes with a roof line, not so much on a convertible. I kind of like the simple and subtle look without attracting too much attention. This weekend, I added LEDs, all new trims, front grill mesh, side grill mesh, rear diffuser. Thoughts?

    Cheers

Is to stripe it with the stripes going all the way back over the humps to the trunk.
They are fairly subtle stripes and will accent the fab color of the car.
My other vote is to not paint the wheels black as you really don't have any other black on the car outside of the interior color.
    Just my 2 cents worth....
    Cheers,
    Greg

Thanks Greg, its not off the table yet, I'll sleep on it for a while but I have the stripes ready to go if and when I do decide. If I were to do it, it will cover the front hood and the humps back to the PORSCHE emblem on trunk. It does break the monotonous of all that gray. Decisions decisions...

... all "good" decisions to have to make Mike
btw, I've got a really nice Boxster hardtop lift/holder in my garage (bolted to ceiling) that I used when I had my 2001 S, can't remember if you have the hardtop, but if so you're welcome to it.

Hi Greg, thanks for the offer, I do not have the hard top, but most likely will not have any of that, this car will always be topless or garaged. ;~) Thanks for your vote, I striped it this morning. It does look very cool.

Thanks Greg. I picked up some PlastiDip paint that I want to try on the rims to see if I like it in black. The good thing is that its easy to apply and easy to peel off like vinyl if you do not like the results. That's the plan anyways. Here is the video of this project:

The rear decklid logo is a nice touch.
Did you end up doing any engine mods (cold air intake, chip, etc)?
It's pretty amazing how much more modern the car looks with the new color and changes made, it is a completely different car.
I had forgotten about the red clip to keep from lifting the top up while the speedster humps are in place.
My guess is this one will stay around longer than the MG...
    Cheers,
    Greg
