nico has certainly proved he can qualify well, but he hasn't done as well in Monaco if memory serves me correctly. Lewis thrives here. As a rookie he should've beaten alonso in the same car had mclaren not ordered him to slow down.
Problem is, Lewis isn't very good around Monaco. I'd put my money on Rosberg for pole, but who knows.
Didn't he win once and should have won a second time (team held him back from passing Alonso)? Certainly, he hasn't won it annually, but only Alonso and Webber have more wins there than LH among the current grid with 2 (and one could/should have been Lewis'). I think that gives him as good a shot as anyone to take it. Actually, probably better as only MW, FA, LH, KR, SV and JB have won it among this years field.
Nico will take the weekend off, MS will step into his car and set the pole, but will suffer a 5 place grid penalty. Webber will qualify ahead of Vettel, but Red Bull will use some wizardry in the pits to bring Vettel out ahead of Webber. Someone like Lewis or Kimi or Fernando will pull off an impressive pass on a slow car ahead refusing to yield, but take too much risk and get penalized by the stewards either with a pitstop or a post-race penalty.
He has sucked there since 2008. The year after he won the cars and tires changed and he has been lackluster ever since. I think it's the yellow helmet and LH's constant Senna babble that make people think he's good around there... Also, I think you should note that "thinking" he could get past Alonso if the team had let him is a whole different thing than actually passing Alonso at Monaco. He wouldn't have won in '07 even if he had the green light from McLaren. He was also lucky to win in 2008 due to safety car that erased Massa's 15 second lead and a strategic gamble on tires as the track dried that paid off for him.
He was unlucky to get caught without a time in 2009 due to the red-flagging of Q3. Stuff happens. I wasn't espousing any "Senna" stuff, ftr...just noting that as one of only 5 Monaco winners on the grid I disagree that he has a problem with that circuit. Hell, Vettel's only won there once and he's had the most superior car on the grid three years running.
Yeh lucky thats it, my favourite. Lets see: Monaco results 07 FA 1 LH 2 08 FA 10 LH 1 09 FA 7 LH 12 10 FA 6 LH 5 11 FA 2 LH 6 12 FA 3 LH 5 Ok so points value = FA 29 LH = 31 High standards you have.
Different cars for most of those years. Only in the same car once, Fernando on top. Besides, who said Alonso was some kind of Monaco master anyway? #inferioritycomplex Thanks, Yoda.
You mean like the Hamilton fanboys that descend on anyone that doesn't shower LH with praise on this forum? Yep, you were right on cue. Hell, I can't blame you for being jumpy...it must be tough as a Brit F1 fan these days. Hamilton stuck in a team that will challenge for the championship sometime around 2050 and McLaren eating Force India's dust. Tough times.
I tell you what if you cannot see the talent LH has lets just say you are a great believer in luck: because otherwise how else can you explain the success of those you don't like?. You think LH sucks fair enough, I was not trying to convince you otherwise, I just pointed out the results, and you had a melt down your problem not mine
lewis was going to beat fernando that year. mclaren ordered him not to challenge for the win so he backed off. that was the beginning of the drama that was to unfold that year. we'll see what happens. Red bull as usual may pull something out of a hat and dominate as usual.
Yes because everyone that wants to pass at Monaco just gets right on by! Fernando was faster in qualifying and won by 4 seconds, the rest is just wishful thinking.
C'mon Steve. I said Lewis isn't very good around Monaco and you got butthurt. Do I really need to dig up the countless posts where I've said I think LH is a top 3 driver in F1? Sheesh...touchy, touchy.
Q3 monco 11 on Vimeo Bit from the 2011 quali. Vettels lap was bat **** insane! Onboard comparing Webbo and Vettel: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNjsE_d6z7A]Formula 1 Mark Webber 2012 vs Sebastian Vettel 2011 Monaco Onboards - YouTube[/ame] Vettels speed at top before entering Massenet is almost 10kph higher than Webber...in the same car! Stunning.
Come on, Vettel clearly was in a superior car. How else can you explain such a difference. Webber is a racing god being held down by the Red Bull man! It's a ******* conspiracy!! Mark
Kimi in an interview asked by fans: Readers' Q&A with Kimi Räikkönen thanks to Heikki Kulta from Turun Sanomat
How about, are you moving to Ferrari next year, to race next to Fernando? Kimi's reply: In theory I would not mind that, but. obviously, I never decide with whom I race in any team. Interesting.
Kimi's departure/buyout wasn't exactly smooth I didn't think at Ferrari. I would wider if there is some bad blood with no picture people and him for that matter that would keep them from giving him another ride. It would be cool though.
