I received my new 16" repro wheels from Superformance and mounted some Goodyear Eagle GT's on them. Finally got rid of the old TRX wheels and dated Michelins. I'm still not sure why my '79 had metric wheels on them.
Delivery was only 11 days from UK. Package included new horsey caps and front hub centering rings . I feel so much safer at high speeds and cornering now. Get to push her a little harder with confidence :)
Sorry, not the best pics...pos blackberry

Don't forget to apply to receive the duty refunded on your recent purchase. Contact CBSA to give you exact directions on what to download (paperwork), to process a easy transaction.
Did you know that since your car is over 25 years old, you're able to receive all of the duties you've paid to the government for parts on your Ferrari? This includes the duty paid on your actual Ferrari.

I own an 85 QV, and I submitted all of my receipts. And within 6 weeks, I received a heap of cash back.

Thanks John ! I didn't know I could do that for parts. duty was $150. I've got that file somewhere on my PC from when I imported a '77 GTB from the US.

    Hey John,
Thanks very much for this tip on getting duty refunded. I had never heard about that. For importation of the car, did you have to pay the duty and then ask for the refund or did the CBSA simply not charge it on importation?

Will we see your QV at the Father's Day show this year or has it found a new home?
    Jon

Check your importation sheet in the box that says Customs Duties. If there is an amount there and your car is over 25 years old, they made a mistake and you claim the money back on CBSA informal adjustment request form B2G.

What are those wheels made of? What do they weigh? Are they heaver/lighter than the stock 16" mag wheels?

Thanks to this forum, someone mentioned this to me a while back. I thought it would be fair to pass this duty refund information along when the opportunity came up.

Yes, initially I paid for all the duty up front. And then I submitted the Refund form. The process was super simple. Once you're on file for having a refund of any dollar amount, the process becomes even simpler. Meaning, your refund cheques arrive quicker.

Thanks Matt, those wheels really woke up the look of my 308.

Cost from Superformance is 745 + 125 shipping GBP @ 1.557736 (currency traded date of purchase)
By the time the credit card company was done with their costs, I paid just under 1400 Canadian. Government got me for $150 - duty, taxes & handling. I have applied to be reimbursed on the duty. So my cost was about $1500 all in.

Plus -steel valve stems, tires/mounting/balance $710. The Goodyear Eagles were on sale.

BTW... TRX 220/55/390 are $514 each + shipping ...from Coker

T.Rutlands has the same wheels on sale now for $1700 + $100 shipping, however the caps are extra and I don't see any mention of the front hub centering ring.

Thanks for taking the time to break it out for me! I think I'm going to head in that direction the next time I have to replace my tires. You never get any value for the tires that are mounted on rims when you try to sell them used, so I'll get everything out of them I can, and dump them. I have no idea what I can get from selling them, but it will offset the cost of the Superperformance Rims to some extent, and my car will look "right" to me.

They are about 2.5lbs heavier each than original 16" QV mag wheels. 20lbs ish at the rear, 19lbs ish at the front. More weight savings can be had by running lighter tires, I have found that the weight of just one tire can vary up to 8lbs each depending on manufacturer. For instance Yokohama and Bridegstone are very heavy (27-29lbs) whilst Pirelli and Michelin are very light (21-22lbs).
