    Here are my latest mods.
Added a carbon fiber overlay to my handles and shift paddles. There is a thin layer of resin between the carbon and aluminum so is no galvanic corrosion. With the shift paddles I left the edge finished in aluminum to match my aluminum Ferrari insert in the door sills. Everything is clear coated with UV resistant automotive urethane.

Maybe not for all but I like carbon fiber.

There is of course more detail to each process but this is the basics of it.

For the overlay first I removed all the original sticky material and then scuff the surface to insure a good bond of the overlay which consists of layer of black resin, carbon fiber and multiple layers of resin to build depth. Last a layer of automotive urethane. Oh and of course lots of sanding and then more sanding...then of course more sanding.

The mirror covers are solid carbon fiber and are made by a process called resin infusion using molds I pulled off the original metal covers. I’ve also made my own carbon fiber door sills this way.

Both processes are very time consuming and require lots of man hours… I’m learning why carbon fiber parts are so expensive.

I'm actually in the process of doing the same thing with blue/black carbon fiber for my blue 348.. how do you get the CF to be so perfectly uniform at the edges and the folds? CF is a fickle cloth that doesn't like to cut on a laser cut line like you have on the F1 paddles. GREAT JOB there.. but are you using a specific thickness or weave, or are you layering several levels and then mitering it after it cures?

Your right.. CF fabricated parts is a bonkers price.. Not going to pay for $900 sills and $1500 console if I can do it myself and learn a skill that I can use in the future!

Incredible work Erick! If I wasn't so dirt poor, i'd have you busier than a cat in a sandbox!

Can this be done to all materials, like plastics? Or just metals?

I just wanted to comment on what a great job Extreme does on his parts. As an early customer of his I bought one of his first runs of the mirror triangles, we were both a bit surprised to find out that the hard top and convertible had different triangles so I sent him my originals so he could make a mold and we swapped sets with the new ones he made. They look and fit perfect, really top notch work. I see allot of CF parts from airplanes and his is right up there. I am sending off my paddles to him to get the CF treatment and I can't wait to get them back. Great work at a great price!
