have a 2002, 60km mileage 360. previous owner had front and back double wishbone balljoint set replaced just last year.

however, im now getting problem that (esp in sports mode) i get a bobbing effect at higher speeds. also, going through potholes which i can't dodge, there is a loud banging noise, its so rough that the glove box opens up.

don't know if this is related, but at low speeds, there is a creaking noise and i feel the car bobbing a bit accelerating / decelerating even at low speeds.

are my shock absorbers needing replacement? is this an out of alignment issue? the car had alignment done after the bar joints were replaced last year.

the problem is especially prevalent in sports mode, leading me to suspect shock absorbers.

for replacement , is OEM better or aftermarket (if so, which ones?)

Shock absorbers good place to start, I would also look at all bushes, including tranny, engine etc.

Check the transmission mounts, haven't had mine go, but as I understand it can lead to odd sounds and movement out of normal with acceleration.

As far as the loud bang that opens the glovebox.. possibly worn shocks, maybe bushings. Not sure. I presume you have an indy mechanic.

had transmission and engine mounts done by previous owner too last year. does that then leave shocks and bushings? Are bushings part of ball joints which may have been done?

Have you started with the basics ie tires & tire pressures then front ball joints ?

Is the car Modena or Spider and is creaking front or rear

    spider, what's the diff?

    creaking is rear.

    assuming pressures are fine?

You cannot assume pressures are fine

Your initial creaking description was vague so the need to know re Spider is whether to ignore scuttle shake (however limited it might be on the 360)

your generic description (sorry) leads to some generic (and, without looking at and/or driving the car) speculative diagnoses

Banging could be 1) dampers are worn 2) bushings loose/worn 3) mounts cracked and/or 4) hubs/bearings. Creaking could be 1) bushings 2) ball joints but could also be function of 3) dampers

Start with easy basics - tires/pressures/wheels, then hubs (maybe it's just me, but hubs/bearings seem to have finite lives), then each connection point.

This could/should be a quick diagnosis at a good shop with a road test and a look underneath with the car on the lift.

Good luck, keep us posted on what you find/correct
