Also Pete, is it the carnabeua was u use? Any prior treatments before the wax?
I use mostly Swissvax products to try not to mix and match too much. You clean the paintwork with their Cleaner Fluid Regular then I use Swissvax Scuderia wax, 2 coats as a minimum. There's a bit of a trick to getting those crazy reflections where you get deep colours ie greens, blues etc reflected in red paint. Say you're going to do 3 coats, do the first 2 coats as directed (put the wax on, let it basically dry for 10 mins then buff off) but with the top coat do it slightly differently - put the wax on as normal (goes on like an oil) but don't let it dry, gently wipe/ buff it straight away while it's still oily, do it really gently though. I have no idea why this works but the depth of shine you get is amazing. Just don't tell anyone else
Who cares if your car is not original. It is far better! I am quite familiar with 348 "Targas" and I say that yours is much superior to what the factory tried to offer. Real leather, fine detailing etc, etc.makes it better than the Maranello product. I would guesstimate that one could buy a 430 for what you have in the car, not a 360.
Thanks Ace, just saw that. My first thread on Fchat won thread of the month, maybe this should be my last to round it off nicely? ......... ......Don't answer that
Thanks Jerry. My aim was to try to keep the car looking more or less original, just 'lift' it a little in certain places. I didn't want it to look like anything other than a 348 though. Funny thing is I always wanted a 348 and I guess, like any young lad, the car on the poster that I gazed at on my wall was what I was after and that's always going to be seen a little through rose tinted spectacles. When I looked for my car and found that the very small UK market had a selection on offer but none were going to live up to that boyhood ideal, I thought "what the hell", bought one and set out to create it instead. Truth is, financially this is not a smart move but I've never really looked at my car in those terms. I wanted to enjoy my car to the full and so I mentally wrote off the purchase price as soon as I bought her. I don't really look at her in terms of pound/dollar signs - if one day I have to sell so be it, the next 'guardian' will get a special car in great shape but (ridiculously) where she goes next will mean far more to me than the price I get. Just the way I feel. And yes I know I'm a little mad
