    Interesting, I guess the affiliate doesn't think Houston is a F1 market...anti-Austin bias. :D

In my market, New Orleans, there were several ads during the week touting that the race was live on network TV for the first time ever.

    Good to know, thanks.

Same advert breaks as on the TV? [In fairness, most ads today were split screen, which isn't too bad. Still prefer my Sky feed though ;)]

Another shout-out for NBC...I enjoy the articles here, MotorSportsTalk.

I don't know if this existed before they got F1 but I came across it only b/c of F1.

I was pretty pissed, and I want to know who in Houston we can contact with our displeasure.

I still recorded the race after the fact, but I if it's supposed to be on NBC, it should be. Period.

The App worked perfect for me as well. Watched the beginning in bed from the ipad and then went out to the broadcast on TV. It was awesome.

Then my Dad, Brother and I went out and shot a bunch of clays and brought the ipad and saw the Indy 500 from the APP. I must say so far I'm totally pleased with NBC!!

That is an amazing letter from the producer in Houston! In summary: "sorry, but we thought we'd get more viewers and advertising revenue from news on a Sunday morning than F1".

    That's insane!!!

Still though, it's crazy to me that in this day and age how dated the TV model is. I pay ~$150/month for my TV/Internet bundle... and 99.9% of the stuff on TV I don't watch and would never watch.

Just let me pay directly for the shows/sports/news I do want to watch. And I don't want shows that are a year old before I can download them. And I want it all on my TV screen, not my iPad or computer screen.

    Just saw this.

    NBC breaks some records

NBC’s coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix was watched by nearly 1.5 million viewers in the United States, making it the most watched Formula 1 race in the US for six years. According to the Nielsen Company, the live coverage of the race (the first time that the race has been aired live) was watched by 1.456 million viewers. The last race to get that kind of coverage was Fox’s 2007 coverage of the United States GP. This was an increase of 241 percent compared to last year’s coverage on Speed. The F1 races that have been shown on the NBC Sports cable network have not rated as highly, with viewers numbers at around 400,000. In 10 days NBC will air the Canadian GP live.

    +1 Couldn't agree more.

Seems "they" are moving slowly to the "on demand" model, supplied via broadband, but obviously the existing broadcasters are pushing back, hard.

    Another interesting Sylt article from Pitpass;

Will need some techno-wizards to spec it out and many lawyers to fight the TV companies, but it is coming......

    Cheers,
    Ian

Good for them! Many here were writing them off before the season even started..... At least they're trying; Decent pre/post race shows, the boys live in Monaco, promotion during other events; They were advertising Canada during the hockey playoffs for example.

Imagine what figures they'd have had if all their affiliates had even bothered to broadcast it!?.... ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian
