    Hi All,

I just purchased a 2004 360 F1 with 40K. In my search I drove a few 2002 models and the clutch did not seem to "slip" as much on them when accelerating from a stop as this car.

A little history on this clutch-

The previous service records show a new clutch, TO bearing, Sensor kit, done at F of Bev. Hills about 400 miles ago in June of 2010.
There appear to be no visual leaks and the resevoir is at the correct level. ( I am aware of the TSB on fluid level). All other shifting is normal.

    The Issue-

If I punch the car from a red light the clutch slips to the point you can smell it. (I only did this once and almost had a thumper attack) If I ease into the throttle in sport or normal mode it seems to slip quite some time before it hooks up fully. I also get a good shudder after shifting into 2nd. Once you are in higher gears there seems to be no noticable slippage

I am pretty sure this is not normal, and I am planning on taking it to the shop.

    The Question-

Am I correct this is not normal?

Does this sound like an Issue that can fixed by being adjusted with the SD2/3, or does this sound like a mechanical failure?

    Would this cause-

After driving for 10 min or so the F1 light comes on only on de-acceleration such as stopping for a red light. It also comes on if you are on the freeway and de-accelerate. It is not gear dependant. The light will immediately go off when you accelerate and the clutch feels like it is "hooked up".

I pulled out the two front speed sensors and looked at them to see if they were dirty, but were clean as a whistle. I also checked both the connectors, and the connector for the rear sensor.

    Thanks

There's various threads in the 360 section covering similar issues (one last week) but I believe the two first things to check are F1 fluid level & PIS which may be wrong after the service

When you decelerate only ? or decelerate and downshift ? My car's light will "flash" when I decelerate and downshift, but it only does it if I have been in gear for a while, like 40-50 miles without shifting on the freeway. In around town driving it never flashes, my dealer found nothing wrong with the F1 when they tested it.

Only on de-acceleration. The light goes off as soon as you hit the accelerator again. I have it headed to the shop, so I will post the outcome, but I am hoping for the PIS setting.

I would have loved a 3 pedal, but I had a bad Left Knee....So I have to deal with it.... I did test drive a 3 pedal and I loved it!
