Hi all. Just dredged up something from the archives that you may find interesting. After their success of luring Ferrari momentarily away from Pininfarina with the 308 GT4 (or more likely Pininfarina being too busy and/or expensive), Bertone put forward a model for the updated 308. Let's gloss over the fact they called it the 'Ferrari Rainbow' shall we and just marvel in the car for a bit. They honestly thought this was to be the next Ferrari?!? Thank the Lord that Enzo had more taste Close call but I think he made the right choice. Image Unavailable, Please Login
p.s. With snazzy music it still looks crap in my opinion...... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74a73nQPA2M]Ferrari Rainbow Bertone - Dream Cars - YouTube[/ame]
There are several cars that thing favors and none of them are aesthetically pleasing. Sure glad that didn't make production! Given the importance of the 308 for Ferrari, things would most likely have taken a turn for the worst.
It looks more like a boat than a sports car. The width outside of the front lights and over the front wings look more like running boards!
We could see if it'll float. My guess is no, but that wouldn't be much of a loss. I just can't take it seriously. To me it looks like it should be on a carpet with my son pulling it backwards then letting it go.
It would be interesting to see if that actually went to production and it did catch on how it would have changed the way automobile designs would have looked today. Im glad someone up high made the call to produce what Ferrari actually produced.
The back looks like a cassette deck, like a tape the size of a suitcase should pop in there and then it closes.
