while this guy is obviously an annoying troll, he at least unintentionally created an interesting thread. the 458 is a gorgeous automobile, the net worth question is interesting, but for me to consider purchasing one, at my age (36) it would more be a question of current income and current expenses, not sure what that would have to be; but it's not anywhere near what it is now. having said that, I commend anyone with the moxy to go out and finance one that is not inherently wealthy.

For 30 million I'd buy 2, even here in DK!

Sorry, to me this is a pointless thread, I might post one asking how long is a piece of string?

It all comes down to priorities and in the same way to be able to answer how long a piece of string is you need to know between where and where, to be able to answer how much you need to afford an F car, you need to know what other responsibilities you have and therefore where you car dream fits into your priorities.

This thread could run and run. Unfortunately.

disagree. if nothing else, interesting to see other people's mindsets on priorities and money. what is the worth of joy and pleasure? can a price tag be put on it? much more intangible than the analogy you described.

I like to see how some play it very safe and others just enjoy life there and then.

Ah ha! I knew you were cutting corners somewhere and not just when you're driving your 458 either :)D). I don't know Phil, McDonald's 5 times a week too afford a 458. I think I'd buy a Kia just to eat healthier. ;)

i recognize the OP is likely a troll, but I do appreciate the serious responses.

My car purchases have generally erred on the ultra conservative from a financial perspective. I'm interested in a 458 Spider and that conservativeness will need a little more flexibility or I'll have to wait until I'm 65. I get that people don't want to advertise their net worth or net income, but hearing people's rules of thumb or analysis or thought process is helpful to me.

Are you aware that this is a 5 year old thread that was thankfully lost many years ago ?
