Oh and give it up already on splitting semantic hairs of talented vs great.

You might not like the guy but there isn't a multiple WDC who isn't generally considered a great of the sport.

Vettel makes it look easy sitting NOW in the best car but how did he get there and how does he stay there? For every Vettel there are ten Patreses/Surers/Webbers etc who didn't get a single title when they had the chance.

This all reminds me of 20 years ago when some of the Senna fans were arguing whether Prost had it or whether he was just lucky sitting in the best car.

As I said: Golf is easier to understand :)

Echoed here with a nice review of the top teams. Some of us do get it about Vettel. Simply put, he is good. Like all the other top multi WDC's of the past. Nice review of the current top runners. Worth a look.

    Yes it was.
Massa ahead of Button on a statistical basis?

Not sure what you're rambling on about, but pre crash Massa was fast. Since the crash he has completely sucked and not even come close to winning. Trying to compare post crash Massa with Webber is completely stupid. I'm not willing to "forgive" Massa his position because he's no good anymore. Webber is still a capable driver.

Then again, when it comes to the topic of Massa, you get all loopy. I'll never forget when you said it "didn't matter" that Alonso finished 30 seconds ahead of him earlier this year. That had me laughing my ass off.

Thank you, that was my point. I would like to see how he does when they're not the class of the field.

I hope you're not insinuating that I'm one of them...

Once again you amaze me with your complete inability to comprehend what people post. As far as I know, NO ONE is saying that Vettel is not a great driver. I have said many times he is in the top 3 of the sport. However, we have yet to see if he is capable of mounting a title challenge in inferior machinery. Yet here you are acting like people are saying he sucks. Read, please.

Is English your second language? Honest question.

I think he's a fantastic driver - already a 3x WDC. Want to see him at Ferrari. I don't really like him but I was never a fan of Alonso before he joined Ferrari, either. It's not his fault he has had the best car, he has gone out there and won with it.

THAT SAID, I would like to see how he responds to driving a turd for a year or two. It's pretty well established that Vettel gets very impatient/petulant when he faces adversity on the track. His pouting on the team radio is enough evidence of that. Perhaps as he matures this will become less of an issue, but I can't imagine what he'd be doing if he had to drive the car Button is currently putting up with, for example.

Also, for people saying that he is already a "legend" because he has 3 WDC - do you consider Nelson Piquet a legend? :)

I think if he wins this year he becomes legendary...only he and Schumi would have won 4 in a row.

You don't know the measure of any man until you see how they deal with adverse situations.

Seb comes off as petty when he reacts so emotionally to anything less than success but settling for second best isn't the sign of a winner. We really can't know what goes in his mind but we can see his results and they are stellar. Would I bet against him? No. Would I want him dating my daughter? No.
    ;)
