Just to add some information to this topic: between 1996 and 2007 Ferraris delivered to the Middle East had an "A" as the market designation, just like Ferraris delivered to North America. On Middle East versions made before 1996 or after 2007, you will indeed find a "T" as the 8th character of the VIN. Please also note that the "A" doesn't automatically mean that it fully US spec. I mean, the "A" was also used for Canada, where they have speedometers in kph. Then you still have to change something to get the car into the US, even with the "A" in the VIN ...
Just saw this message. Yes my DOT label was also in the door jam area. In addition I also got a letter from Ferrari stating that it is a US spec car just in case.
I'm impressed that Ferrari gave you the letter. I've heard from others that they do not like to do it. Did you have to prove that you've owned the car some period of time while living in Dubai? Did it cost? Did you go to Ferrari NA or SpA? That would be excellent information to archive here.
