Great post as always by you, I still love my 430 as well and having driven a variety of 458's think they are terrific as well. All have their own personality. Thank you for the compliments on my car, the more I look at the car the better it gets. The lines from back to front and wide visual front fenders are excellent.

In normal mode and auto on highway getting 22mpg but get aggressive another animal, the car is scary fast.

I think the car is a 2012. I need to find out if it has been upgraded to 2013 standards. He said it had been upgraded to 616 hp but I want to check.

Does anyone know if the upgrade includes adding the door open button. Mine does not have that. I can see Meclaren upgrading the power but not chasis components.

Does anyone know? I do not have trouble opening the door and I like the smooth lines but I want the higher HP if I do not have it.

Yes it is not an Elise. They are so much fun to drive and flick around. My Lotus Evora was not as flickable as the Elise but it was still great to drive with a little more power 350hp versus 192. This is all stock. My Elise sport was bumped up to 220 hp but I believe the extra hp was mostly done buy upping the red line on the tack. A great car and I miss my Elise. The Elizes I drove that where not the "Sport" model felt the same to me.

Lee, there is no 2014 yet, you have the 2014 upgrades with the exception of door buttons not available on 2012. No more to do.

There are times it's nice to wait for a new car, like when it's Winter in the North. :) Can't beat instant gratification when it's Spring and you're ready to go.

So what were the other 2 colour choices? Let me guess, black and orange? I actually prefer black for the 12C but your colour combination with red calipers would look dramatic. I mentioned doing satin wraps to Tony on an earlier thread. That can work really well on white with a black roof. Satin eliminates mirror reflections so body lines show really well. Anyway enough dreaming, let's see your photos first!

yes I like instant gratification :)

They had a black car there and it looked sinister and mean. You are right it looks great in black. Anywhere other than Florida I may have gone black. The black color holds to much of the heat and you can not even touch the car in the Florida summer. I made that mistake once on a 911 Porsche.

They had a metallic orange, and a red. black and the white I bought. I think they would have found me the light blue if I wanted to look at it.

My wife has our camera and she will be back on saturday. I can put it in a email if someone could put this on the forum I would appreciate it.

White is a great color on that car, I agree about the black satin roof adding another element to it as well.

Actually, I think a satin white body with a glossy black roof would make a better combination.

Sparkles tend to be OK when they come off the high points of an object. People like to lower their eyes to avoid glare and satin on the car's body also sit better with your eyes as you can explore the lines and shadows. Mirror reflections confuse the lines.

As you can imagine, I'm also exploring the possibility of applying the same treatment to my white car sometime in the future.

You're right about black cars not being practical in FL. They along with dark grey cars work better when it's cold and rainy. Yes, rain …LOL!

Azure Blue seems to be very difficult to photograph accurately. I also have to admit I also often wonder what the orange 12C feels like in person. I didn't see either colours when I was at the local Mac dealership last year. Next time...

I look forward to seeing your photos.

I've seen it in grey, orange, white and a dark red.

I think I like the orange best. Haven't seen one in black but like it has been said black tends to hide
the lines of the body and I much prefer a color that shows form.

White suits the McLaren well :)

I agree, Satin White with a Glossy Black Roof looks terrific, I have that on my 991 as part of the sunroof.

Sorry but after much reflection I have to say the traditional McLaren orange is the best and harkens back to when the Kiwi engineer and Driver Bruce McLaren came to Can Am and conquered all until the mighty factory Porsche 917s arrived.

I agree...to me that's the same as a rosso corsa Ferrari, grand prix white Porsche, British Racing Green Jag, etc. it just "fits" the car.

    Lee,

You slay me - we are alike but also very different. We both like the look, feel and experience of cars and not just for status or to collect, but to enjoy the drive. But I microanalyze and agonize before I buy and you just go for it! I read the owners manual cover to cover immediately, and you get trapped in your ZR1 because you did not know there were manual door releases for dead battery.

FYI - you have a 2012, because the door "swipe" was eliminated for 2013. To many owners complained that they could not get the swipe right. A pity in my mind, as the swipe is such a unique feature. Also note you can swipe BEHIND the door at the air intake area and the car locks. for the passenger, press and hold unlock on the key fob for them, as the swipe may be a bit foreign to them.

The twin turbos are not sequential, there is one for each bank of the V-8 and I suspect as you get used to the power you will begin to notice a bit of lag. Mind you I do not view this as a bad thing - the explosive turbo lag of the F40 is one of its great attributes and one of many reasons the car does not suffer fools.

Another nice featuer is that ou can pull paddles at any time, even automatic mode, and the car will shift and stay in manual mode for several seconds, so if you just want to zip around a few fun curves you can just grab gears, do it, and then the car will revert back.

While the subjectives of the 458 and its Ferrari heritage make it the king in this segment, I think the Mac may finally be making some ground.

First, real enthusiasts who will drive and be ambassadors for the car are now buying them - in my case the steep discounts for the last of the 2012 did it, and for you I suspect that the dealer treatment and perhaps favorable pricing helped as well. I drove my car to the office in the rain today becasue it is a CAR for crying out loud and will do daily duty when I want to use it. It has been on track and will be again.

Second, the 2013 updates, now applied to 2012 cars, do in my view make the car much better. 616 hp, better shifting, better door function, beter infotainment and Nav operation all serve to make the car more palatable for the finicky owner who gravitates to exotics.

Third, I hope that some of the great technology in the car finally gets its due. The carbon "monocell," hydraulic anti-roll, squat and dive in the suspension, the relatively light weight, and the real downforce the car makes may finally be noticed by the enthusiast buyer.

Keith We are alike. I love this car. I am only now starting to dip into the performance envelope a little more. Just a wonderful driving experience.

Yes I buy these cars for the driving and the look of the car, In fact I just bought a VW Golf R, which stands for race. No one looks at me or notices the car. It is a blast to drive and flick around. I feel stealth :)

I did not know about the hand locking feature. Thank you

I frankly never even thought of a Mclaren untill my freind Jay said we should go look at them. I saw it and was impressed by the performance and the driving experience I bought it. I do not do that often. I usually think on it for a day or sometimes a week. The Mclaren just grabbed me so much, I just bought it. I am happy I did

    Regards

    Lee
