No, it's not. A TC is a big scale control system with complex algorithms and lots of code. A production car TC software runs into the hundred thousands of lines of code. That's a completely different league than modifying some maps here and there to channel a bit of fuel into the exhaust.

You know I noticed this in the race but it never registered beyond a "that's interesting".

Of all people Webber would be the last to control his launch from a near stop.

I felt RBR's biggest advantage was their low speed downforce. Its possible they have more than one rabbit in the hat.

We have a winner . They need a test session with Pirelli tires to stop this from happening. Mercedes and Ferrari got a test session why not Red bull ;-)

Because they're a drinks company with a whiny driver, an obnoxious manager and a resident wizard.

    Did I miss anything?

I believe the best estimation of Red Bull's tire markings I have read is that it's the car bouncing on the rev limiter whilst in what is in essence at the moment not the optimal gear. This was due to the other car being in the way and not wanting to upshift yet.

    +1

    Makes sense.

Can't help thinking bouncing off the limiter is never a good thing though..... Maybe it doesn't matter these days?

    Cheers,
    Ian

If it was bouncing off the limiter there would be no acceleration thus no tire patchs.

PS on long straights in many races you can hear the engine bounce off the limiter for what seems to be a third of the straight even without DRS.
Drives me nuts thinking they should have geared it higher but I suppose they know what they are doing ;).

Some website has used this pit start from webber as a proof of the chainsaw sound at start.

    F1 2013 Webber Gp Canada - YouTube

The fact that intrigues me is that it's still in the limited speed zone.

Personally I think they might still tinkering around the box speed limiter as in 2008.

8hz would be enough to make such tire marks?

And I strongly suspect that an 8hz variation on the throttle pedal could not make such distinct on and off transitions in rear wheel power - provided that you believe the driver could do such a super-human modulation with intelligent purpose.

This either was an oscillation of the rear suspension (difficult to believe, but possible) or it was evidence of some kind of intervention.

This may prove to be the obvious (but not news-worthy) answer.

    Mark Webber has stated:

"Ah! - the car keeps bloody miss-firing all over the place! - That's why I'm slower than Seb!

    It's all: Power........no power..........power again.........no power........power again!, frankly it's a pain in the arse! - I'm either wheel spinning or going nowhere!

The funny thing is, Seb doesn't seem to have the same problem! - Explain that one if you can!
    "
