    Friends,

I dont post here much as I am so busy working on the car. I still take care of it to. My question is can anyone reccommend a good dry clean shampoo. I have the original carpet in my truck and always get marked off for the dirty area at the bottom. My carpet is glued in and a few pieces are screwed in. 95% of it is clean and just looking for a non water based cleaner.

There used to be oa brand i cant remember that I would spay on my other car car mats and it would turn into a white powder and when I vacuumed it stains were gone. This carpet is NLA so I dont want to mess it up in any case.

I have some Blue Coral stuff but it smells terrible forever and does not work that good.

thanks for any suggestions! I posted this in detailing section but no one responded and I think this is a more tech question anyway.....

Blue Coral does have an unbelievably strong chemical smell -- I felt like I took a couple years off my life from breathing it when I tried it.

Bissell makes something called a "Little Green Machine", which is a small cleaner/extractor. In theory, you could clean, rinse, and suck the water out, but I don't think it works that well to get every bit of dampness out.

Folex is an excellent carpet cleaner. It's odorless and a very effective cleaner and it's readily available (at Home Depot). It is a liquid, but it doesn't require any rinsing so I guess it evaporates. I suspect if you sprayed in on a sponge and then applied it to the carpet with the sponge (instead of spaying directly on the carpet) you could clean the surface without soaking it. Technically Folex a spot cleaner, but most use it for general cleaning. Folex is very popular on car detailing websites. As always, test a spot first, but I've used it on factory carpet for 1986 and 1966 Ferraris and it worked well.

    Friends,

The firewall area has some streaks on it probably from water in the past? and down in the holes it has lots of dirt and have been marked of repeatedly at shows. The sides are all glued under the side marker lights and I was looking for a product I used years ago and cant find you would spray it on and it turned into a powder and vacuumed off and worked real well. I cant remember its nam just dont want to put water based stuff down there as that is the only part of my car that has a bit of rust as my friend peter can tell you. It is a few layers of metal and undercoating and metal and is like a sandwich designed to hold moisture.

Try posting here, it's a forum of professional detailers and they will know it if it is still available: http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-detailing-product-discussion/

Folex is loved by the forum above and is the best cleaner I've seen with no odor and no rinsing required. Probably would work with sponge application so that it only hits the surface of the carpet without soaking through: Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Folex Co. FSR32 Folex Instant Carpet Stain Remover - 32 Fl 0z.

    Dear Friends,

Thanks for all the replies. I think its the K2R I was looking for. There are not so much as stains as I want to clean down in the wheel wells and do not want to add water there or try to remove this NLA and impossible to replace carpet, just maybe clean the dirt up a bit. I have bought several of the ones above and will try and get back to you all.
