Argh. Does ****ing SpeedTV REALLY have to ask drivers, while they're still racing, how Siminson's death effects them? Does it seem screwed up to anyone else to ask other drivers, especially Aston drivers, how the death effects them while they're on track?

I have known Allan since he was 16 and spent much time with him. He and his family were pure down to earth racers of the old school. They never ever gave up in the face of all adversity and undoubtedly Allan would want the race to go on..........what an empty feeling for us all now.......shocked. He will be sadly missed at home & in pit garages around the globe by many people this morning.

The best Aston Martin Racing can do is to continue in the race and dedicate the win to their dead driver.
This, they may achieve tomorrow afternoon, hopefully.

So much agree. The very lowest level of 'entertainment news'. Don't see how they can bring themselves to ask such pathetically stupid questions. Might as well ask the same of the widow! About National Enquirer-level....

As a club racer this news is beyond words. It is impossible to react well to this and no words can convey the panoply of thoughts and feelings. It is a dangerous avocation and impossible to know what he would want the team to do in response.

Terrible tragedy but most pro racers will say he died doing what he loved

I was watching the race when it happend live... at first i thought that he would be checked over and be ok, but the body language of the corner workers said it all... been around racing way too long to know it was anything else but bad news... Very sad indeed.

I dont think there has been a death in the race at LeMans since back in the 1990's... you forget how dangerous racing really is.

McNish's accident last year ... was amazing he did not have any problems, so when you see something like this your inital thought is - no big deal, but its still a dangerous sport.

best wishes to his family and friends.

I read that last was 1997 during a practice, actual in-race fatality was 1986.

I have been friends with Allan for over 12 years and always admired him as a first rate professional racing driver. As a person he was equally impressive forging for himself a career the hard way with no family money, huge raw talent, and just plain hard determination. The news of his passing has left me feeling empty and I would like to pass on my condolences to his family including his partner, young daughter, and brother. Motorsport can be so cruel sometimes.

Very sad. I saw it too; that was an Earnhardt-style crash.; just a solid hit at an angle where the car didnt dissipate the energy.
Every time I watch this race this year there is a caution flag - wtf...

Speed and their crew should be ashamed of themselves first of all, I found them to be extremely disrespectful on all levels.

Also, how hard would it be for these guys to put some safer barriers around the trees or how about just cut some of them down.

    No one ever expects this.

The word "accident" should always be renamed "collision" to be more accurate.

Racing has gotten so good at making this activity seem fool proof that we can almost forget how dangerous this sport really is. Our condolences to the family, his friends and fans.
