I was changing the battery in my car over the weekend and noticed a lot of grease on my control arm. POking around, I found a huge tear. Is there a generic part that I can use to replace the torn boot? How intensive of a fix is this? The inner clamp looks like it will be mighty hard to reach with the steering rack still installed...

I think you can get to the inner clamp with the undertray removed. I have torn boots on my car as well but haven't done anything about them yet. I'm sure there's a generic (cheap) boot that will work, just a matter of taking the old one off and heading to a parts store and comparing them. At minimum you'll have to remove the tie rod end to get the boot off, so I'm waiting until I have to dig in there for something else before taking it all apart. Maybe when I put on track pads for the next track day.
