I've only had my Euro 308 for 11 years and do not plan on selling the car anytime in the future.
38 years for me. I bought my 308 GT4 (Euro 74, no. 09112) new in 75. I lived in the 'bush' in Melbourne Australia over about 2 miles of very dusty dirt road and drove it like a taxi, anywhere and everywhere. Kids to school, business, and on long interstate high speed trips. Couldn't get enough of it. In 1978 at 50k miles started to fire smoking missiles at cars behind at the traffic lights. Total rebuild of the engine and improved the air filtration a bit and did another 77k before needing another rebuild but no money. Put the car in the barn, a rat died under the back seat, and after about 10 years of gathering dust decided in 2003 I should sell it. Charged the battery and while warming up the engine hosing off the dust could smell petrol. Checked under the hood to see all the fuel lines were perished and petrol was going everywhere including near the crack in the rear extractor! Replaced the fuel lines myself and went for a final blast on my favorite road. - How could you ever sell a car this good!!!! Spoke to my mechanic who said 'they go before they blow!' Decided to restore it on the 'drip'. Over 8 years did a complete rebuild including bodywork, gearbox, engine, suspension, interior, the lot at massive cost, and now have her back better than new (aside from a couple of minor teething problems). I love this car. Attached Images Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just past 4 years of ownership a few weeks ago although I took delivery in July of 2009. Its actually the newest of my four cars. It has recently become my daily driver just because I can. I brought my now 2 year old son home from the hospital in this car and still hope to give him the keys one day - just not anytime in the next 20-25 years. PDG
My love for ferrari's was a long one but I only could afford my first in 2008. A stunning '87 328 with than only 24000km My oldest car is an audi from 1976 and i was 12 years old when my oncle purchased it new. I still remeber how proud I was. I brought it back to the family in 1987, restored it completely and will keep it forever. It's still like new. [phylosophy mode on] just the other day it hit me that it was almost 40 years old now and still likes like a brand new car, but, I aged almost 40 years.... A strange feeling came to me by realizing that a car, well taken care of, is aging on paper only, as we the owners are getting old. The hair turns gray and the body shows wear and we are becoming "old guys" but the cars could live and stay exactly the same. No signs of getting old whatsoever.. Having a ferrari for 30 years would bring the same feeling I guess and probably even worse as our cars are just SOOO beautiful. And stay beautiful. [phylosophy-mode off]
My wife found my 308GT4 in 97, smashed it in 2003 (wrote it off , and nearly myself ), then got the QV in 2004 , sold it and it leaves me next week. A great car, totally reliable having driven it across Australia and through the outback with not the slightest issue, if it wasn't for a mate asking if I wanted to buy his 355CH which had just been totally rebuilt I would never have considered selling her. I think the QVs are the best of the 3X8 series for 2 reasons : 1. they retain the look inside and out of the original design with the tactile switchgear most people like. 2. all the updates that make the 328 so easy to work on were in the 308QV (those who have worked on the first 308s and then QVs will know what I am talking about 16 years of Ferraris for me is the dream I thought I would never achieve and now I am getting the car that I'm sure was designed for me
Hello 308 Owners, Sorry, I'm late to the party! I have owned my 1982 verde medio 308 GTSi for 20 wonredful years and put 35,000 fun miles on it. I have driven it to events in Boston, Hartford CT, New York, Washington DC, Wakins Glen, trucked to to Monterey, New Orleans, Sebring, Orlando, Miami, Cavallino Classic and had a blast. Ferrari is the only car that comes with a social life, thanks for the memories. With love, Barry
Purchased my 1983 308 GTSi in 1984 as a "demo", with 2000 miles. I have enjoyed it thoroughly since, and have no intention of selling it.
I've known of your car for at least 30 years. You use the same mechanic that has looked after my 308 GTB since it was new, and you used the same restorer as I did for mine. Small world
G'day 360C, Yes, I've seen your magnificent car at John's. Can we keep both him and Ken going for another 30 years? Waz.
