    Installed today . Also vacuum lines rerouted to keep the mufflers open all the time. The sound is more throaty but definitely NOT loud. A good deep sound. Expected more volume. Adequate at best but relatively pleasant. 2002 575. GTS Bruce

    Early mufflers and straight pipes make a very pretty sound on 550s or 575Ms, especially with the vacuum lines rerouted and the valves permanently open.

    What is the down side to this. Will the check engine light come on. I have the 1998 550.
    Thought about doing it last year, but some reason I was talked out of it. But, can't remember what the problem was it would cause.

    I've had straight center pipes on my 1999 550 for four years without any CELs.

    John- CEL exhaust problems are related to the mixture and catalysts and rear exhaust changes on Maranellos will not affect either.

    I tell you, Dan is the man. This guy knows the cars pretty well and I'm sure if it can be done, he will do it. Great shop and a lot of knowledge.
    BTW, I have Cat-Deletes, X Pipes and and an exhaust on the car, with the CEL issue relating to it. But Gotta tell you, Have't heard another 550/575 like it. It just sounds amazing.

    I had the staright pipes fitted as well and had the valve lined to a switch that allows me to open and close it.

    After very long drives sometimes I need to close the valve as the sonor sound inside the car hurts my ears a lot. I know it is not extremely loud but after a while in hot weather it is very unpleasant.

    Any of you have a suggestion how I can get rid off that deep rumble that hurts my ears?

    I have the Braden straight mid pipes and modern Tubi "575 street-version" tailpipes.
    A little louder than the stock exhaust my 550 came with but not too loud.

    Happy with this set up.
    No CEL issues.
    Nice rich sound under acceleration, slight burble when slowing down.
    Droning sound is minimal while cruising at highway speeds (55 - 75 mph).

    I stored the stock mid-pipe and stock tailpipes in my garage in case the next owner wants them some day.
