Where does everybody buy their replacement ECU's? I swapped my ECU's/ cleaned all the contacts and MAF's & now my intermittent 1-4 slowdown light (on solid for 1-2 minutes/no performance effect/never cut out the bank/then goes away) has moved to a 5-8 slowdown light (flashing for 3-5 minutes/ no performance effected/ went away without any issue). Since the problem followed my controller, seems like it is going bad or has a minor short issue. I was going to replace the ECU. Is this the correct solution? How much is the ECU & where do I purchase one? Ricambi? What is the part number?

Thanks in advance to the 348 Brotherhood!
    Mike

You can find Ricambi's catalog and parts diagrams by clicking on "Sponsors", then their ad. Choose v8s, then your model.

Try this company and see if they can help:
Specialized ECU Repair, Replacement, & Testing - Restore or Exchange your Electronic Control Unit (ECU)

There are other companies that offer the same service as well. Maybe someone will post alternatives.

Thank you that is exactly the info I was looking for. I will search to see if I can find other companies/options for the same services. The site you provided looks good & offers immediate exchanges where they send you a new/refurbed/tested unit & you return your removed bad one for under 500!

Reconsider that move, better to know what you started with, trust me!

PS, you can NOT effectively clean the female ECU connectors regardless of what anyone has said, PERIOD!

    Dave,

Thanks for giving me some of your experienced input. It very likely will save me numerous headaches and extra expenses. Do these connectors get changed out with the gold kit when installed?

Yes. I now read how many think that it is easy to get away with a quick clean up. I tried and failed dozens times prior to designing what we did, the kit is a result of cleaning Not working. On some of the early tests I even had the person installing it, clean every connection and drive for a week prior to doing the install. There are a host of reasons that this doesnt work but its wasted time even discussing them.

"rebuilt" ECU's is a poor description, "repaired" is vastly more accurate and all too often you inherit problems you never had prior. That induces a host of new variables when your focus is to eliminate them. Replacing an ECU is the last option after everything else is done.

    Dave,

I'm a newbie having owned my 348 for two months or so. Enjoying it more than I thought possible. Sorting a few problems along the way.

Please explain your statement regarding it is not possible to effectively clean ECU female sockets. Is this an access issue ?

    Thanks,

    Brewman

I am envious, all of mine sit in a trailer waiting for me to have a life and time to work on them.

Access is but one of many issues, it is just not possible... been there, have the shirt and multiples of 1" thick files of notes testing the theory.
