+1, it was a silly thing to say.

I think the white looks fantastic, especially with the red interior!

I hope you are enjoying the car, Lee.

All of my washers and stuff are yellow and my car is white. Perhaps I am confused :)

I did love the burnt yellow Meclaren they had. But white was the only color that was new and with the swipe only door opener. Which I thought is unique. Also I only had one other white car, the 54 vette.

I understand your point and agree somewhat. I am running out of colors. If I did not want to switch around all of my cars would be blue

    ee

Thank you for the white comment.

Yes it is BCs in Yalaha.

My friend Kevin who has the picture talent picked that as a backdrop for the Meclaren.

I cannot stop driving the Mclaren. Normally I switch a car out in a few days, one week tops, not so with this car.

Part of what you are seeing that grows on you is Kevins photographic talent, but the car does look good.

I cannot believe the dealer service. I have bought many exotic cars and several supercars, but I have never been treated so well before anywhere.

Thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement. You guys and girls are great!

Thanks for the kind comments Lee, but due to the heat & humidity, I had to work quickly by using a digital camera. I didn't want to keep you outside any longer than necessary. I would love the opportunity later this year, when it's more bearable outdoors, to use my medium and large-format cameras. Then you'll see some art! Just the same, I'm glad you like the pictures.

is a race car driver or Bruce meclaren is a racer and the owner of Meclaren motorcars?

Well you can tell I do not follow racing :) I am going to check his bio on Google.

Thank you for the two posts

    Lee

Ps: I just got off Google, wow what a guy. I should have known there was a Mr. meclaren, but I never thought about it except as a owner not a very succesful racer. LA

Bruce McLaren was one of the last drivers who could design, engineer, prepare and drive at the highest levels and in the fastest equipment. It took the full might of a Porsche factory effort to dethrone McLaren in Can Am and that did not happen until after McLarens death at Goodwood. The Orange was his team color and part of why I think it is so appropriate for the fax machine

Lee it seems you have several cars in Florida. I am about to move some of my cars down there where I will register and insure them and was curious as to who you use for insurance and how are they covered.

I insure most of my cars with Hagerty. They give great service and our reasonable in cost. I like the fact they will have your car flatbedded for repairs. They will transport for free up to 50 miles. I do not use it much but they do come when you call them.

The last car that I called them had two toe trucks with flatbed show up. That was uneasy.

    Good luck

You know Tony I never liked this ad. I think promoting your brand on the death of your founder in a crash caused by a mechanical failure is not a great message.

I don't take anything away from Bruce McLaren -- who is one of my heroes. But I'm not crazy about using this tragedy to promote car sales today.

If Ferrari made an ad using the death of Villenueve to promote their brand, I would say the same thing. I would say it's inappropriate.

It's well done and I understand the courage angle. Certainly Bruce and the other drivers of their time were brave beyond what we can imagine today.

But I believe the story of Bruce's death is means something more than just brand promotion. There's plenty of other great and powerful stories in the history of McLaren that they could have used for that task.

Bob, the video was not actually for promoting the sale of cars, it was more of a series of video's concerning the Racing Car Company that McLaren released in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Brand. Further videos were also released to commemorate the history of McLaren.

To the rest you guys your very welcome, I thought it was a cool video in regards to the legacy of Bruce and McLaren.

I thought the video was fine, too. As Lee's experience indicates, it seems approppriate to remind people what McLaren stands for. To me, the modern F1 team is far less interesting because it is so large and diverse that the romance of building and driving your own car are simply gone. Now the driver is scouted as a child (e.g. Hamilton), courted, coached and groomed to do that one thing very well and to also be good at seeking and keeping sponsors. The engineering and development of the car now takes refined skills that no one person probably has, from computer modeling, to aerodynamic theory, to suspension kinematics, to material science and more.

Back in the 1960s, Bruce McLaren was far more involved in every aspect of his cars, and the M6, M8 and others are iconic and remain beautiful and soul-stirring today. The F1 continued in that tradition and even performed well in Le Mans trim, not as a silhouette car, but with the same basic chassis and drivetrain as the road car.

Of course the cars of the 60s were breathtakingly dangerous, and no amount of romance can justify continued use of that kind of technology.

So I view a video about Bruce McLaren's death and the passion that led up to it as just part of the heritage that makes McLaren unique.

Perfectly Spoken, by the way Keith I am taking my 12C in today for the first Annual Service, interested in how it goes as it is the same location where I used to take my 430 into.
