    i was sitting in traffic today,and the gauge went to 240, first time ever,before it has never left the first bar,should i be worried?

    As long as you are using the correct weight/grade of oil, you should not worry until the oil temp is 265dF or higher, some might put the limit at 305dF where the oil temp guage hits red.

    Rule of thumb is that for every weight grade you increase or decrease, you move the oil temperature red line by 25-30dF.

    Since your car calls for a 40 weight oil (thats what the 40 in 20W-40 means) if you are running 30 weight oil (xxW-30) you want the oil temp guage to stay under 235dF (some might push it to 265dF) and conversely if you put 50 weight oil in it (xxW-50) you can run it up to 295dF (or some might push it to 335dF.)

    240dF with anything close to the original spec is well insider normal operating conditions.

    i am running 25-50 wt,in the car,it has never moved up like it has,all new to me.
