While my F355 is at FASTCARS having it's major, I am going through withdrawals at home, With the fabrication of my Fabspeed headers underway, I have another three or four weeks of waiting before she comes back to me.

So back at the homestead, I decide to take my wife out for dinner and a movie yesterday in my Toyota truck. Dinner went just fine, but on the way to the theater, the truck just stops. Luckily we were in a parking lot. A tow truck ride and a phone call later, I'm told that my truck has a broken timing belt. Luckily (unlike it's Italian bretheran) it did not cause catostrophic damage, nor is it going to cost me the price of a small car to repair ($550).

So perhaps there's something to all of this five-year preventitive maintenance after all...

Henry should have bought an 06 f150 like mine. Timing belt doesn't fail the engine just starts to sound like a diesel. One timing chain two new cam sprockets two new timing pickups two new oil pressure sensors and 1 tensioner 1100 bucks took my shop mechanic 10 hours and engine sounds good again. Oh ya only 140000 km or 85k miles.

Good to know Grant. By now I have replaced nearly every major component on the truck, so I'm hoping that I can keep driving her for another 100,000 miles without incident. Coming back down in November?

Ya should be I will call you. If you get a chance would you ask the guys at fast cars if they would be interested in fixing my tranny. I would like to watch a bit of what they do though. I thinking transmissions scare me. Ernie keeps tellin me to have a barbecue and free beer for the stooges but I hate imposing.

I will check with Craig and let you know. But the entertainment value alone would be worth hosting the Stooges for a day or two...

Checked with Craig at FASTCARS and they do transmission work in-house. I will text his cell number so you two can discuss the particulars.
