I also prefer the F430 looks above 360. I'm probably in the minority more so because I like the F430 Spider looks better than the Berlinetta. Black Spider with red roof is my preference and what I intend on getting in about three years tops. I haven't driven the 360, F430 or the 458 (don't want to bother the dealerships with test drives until I'm ready, but I might rent an F430 for a day in Dubai in about 3 months time). My understanding is, from several feedbacks on this forum, that although the 458 is a better car in many ways than the F430, the F430 feels more like a sportscar (less refined car overall) at low speeds than the 458 and I prefer that. I don't want a great allrounder I want a sportscar.
Owned a 360 for a year and now I'm 4 and a half years into my 430 Spider. To be blunt the 430 is miles better in every way possible. But maybe, just maybe the looks (which are so similar) may go in favour of the 360
The 430 has the performance advantage, that's clear. Neither are rocket ships, but both are plenty quick enough to be fun. Sound quality is subjective. I think both sound very nice, but stock-for-stock the 430 is definitely louder and more aggressive. The 360 needs a sport exhaust so it can really sing. Fit-and-finish I would have to give to the 430. It just looks like it's the more thorough design and better built, most noticeable when looking at the engine compartment. Parts look better made and more attractive. Overall, the 430's engine compartment is the best looking of all the NA V8 Ferraris, IMO. Exterior design preferences are subjective. Personally, I like both cars very much. The 360 is prettier and more curvaceous, the 430 is sharper and more aggressive. The 360 now looks a tad dated, whereas the 430's crisp lines and sleek headlights still look somewhat up to date. The general rule of thumb is...buy the newest model you can afford. Of course, it's not written in stone.
Well said. I prefer the exterior looks of the 360 but it stops right there. Everything else about the 430 is superior, especially the interior. I went with the 430.
I drive them both often, but of course own the car in my avatar. I will say this: The 430 feels newer then my Strad. Like others have said the fit & finish is a higher caliber in the 430. The Stradale handles the track better. Both the 430 & my Strad accelerate the same. Virtually no measured difference. The Strad sounds a bunch better. I like the 430 looks (I do), but its hard to top a Strad (it can't). Look at the artistic view out the mirror of a 360... Then look at the clumsy 430 intake. The 430 may be a better car for a lot of peeps, just not me. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now that I am leaning towards an F1 for the next Ferrari the CS is certainly my preference. If I can find one that is reasonably priced and within a reasonable shipping distance to me, that is another thing Thanks for the comments.
Yeah I'd probably take a CS over a F430 at this point... CS just looks and sounds sooo good. Just a nitpick, CS and F430 same exact acceleration? I don't think so: CS: 0-60 in 4.3 seconds on to a quarter-mile run of 12.53 at 114.14 mph F430: 0-60 in 4.0 seconds, 12.1 seconds at 119.4 mph I know the power to weight is similar so maybe torque and gearing.. Another thing though about the 360CS is that will probably stay in value or go up... standard F430 will keep depreciating
Since I drove both the 360CS and F430 I would say F430 noticeably faster. Did a short burst also against my friends CS. Beat him pretty easily. I gave him the jump and easily reeled him in and passed him. While I favor the F430 in looks I would say though the 360CS is very nice. Seems lower and with the challenge wheels. Looks great. Maybe indeed better than the F430 coupe. I prefer coupes. Not much of a fan of convertibles.
I test-drove 360's before buying the 430. I liked the 430 better because it drove better, faster, smoother (F1), and the interior was much better to me. Although the 430 cost ~$40K more. The 360 is the Ferrari deal, and I understand the choice and might like to get one of those too one day.
Agreed, I would have a 430 in the garage instead but the 40-50 K delta talked me out of it real quick. That residual is my Morgan 3 wheeler! Yeah!
Guys, 612 scag is v12, 540hp, gobs more torque, much better interior and goes for the same price '05 to '05 as the 360. Sorry, but the Scaglietti is by far the "deal" ferrari. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I have owned both - 360 for 2 years and now have owned my F430 coupe for 4 1/2 years now. My observations: The 360 styling is a bit more elegant especially the tail section and tail lights. Interior differences are minor, although I prefer my Daytona seats in the F430. I still prefer the look of the 360 instrument cluster over the 430. It was awesome looking. The F430 engine is way superior, and factory exhaust note as well. Superior torque and horsepower all the way around. Both cars seemed equally dependable F430 handling is superior; My 360 Modena had alot of oversteer, while the F430 has a bit of understeer put back in. I like the manittino switch on the F430 steering wheel, excellent! The 430 GT was a great Grand Prix and Le Mans racer! A superior and proven endurance racer.
It's cheap because it looks half asleep and rolls on shirt buttons, and is known as a "Scag", agree interior looks nice
Just a few comments: I like the 328 better then the 308. I hold that the 355 is far superior to the 348 in every way and view the 430 as somewhat sharper looking then the 360. However, since I prefer spider over coupe and 3 pedal over 2 pedal, when I drive each, the 430 does not FEEL much faster in everyday driving. Nor does the handling seem much different. But the extra torque in the 430 is a definite plus. However, after several blocks, the 430 engine noise [top down] which is electrifying at first, really starts to become intrusive and on long drives quite tiring. Perversely I find the standard 360 to be too quiet! Both of these cars are wonderful but the 430, with its potentially steeper depreciation, does not offer me enough improvement over the 360 to justify the extra $40 to $60K. So since I much prefer the 360 spider to the 430 coupe [or the 360 coupe] and it is almost impossible to find a 430 spider 3 pedal, my choice was the 360 spider. I have driven several 430's over the last few years and have not found any reason to change my view, but the 458 wow! If only they hadn't covered up the engine on the spider.
I think not. Some 612s or most are intentionally understated but it doesn't have to be. I turn heads constantly just as I did in my 360 and 430. Difference is the 612 is a better car, true daily driver, all the passion and excitement of ferrari with actual functionality. Its dirty right now because I DRIVE it. Half asleep and on buttons mine is not. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
