Just made plans to go to the race which takes place the weekend of June 7,8 and 9. I have never been to a F - 1 event. What can I expect? Any suggestions or hints would be welcomed.

Car should be here soon. Hope to have by the end of May. If not it will be early June...assuming no problems. I was going to trade in the 599 GTO when the F - 12 got here but now I think I will keep the GTO...for the time being....the GTO is my favorite car and I am not ready to let it go...maybe I will change my mind when the F - 12 is here but for now it stays in the stable...which will be the ...Enzo...599 GTO....F - 12...458 Spider...

You'll have a blast and marvel at how well-organized the event is.

Trust the Metro; it's clean, fast, and efficient. I get from the track to downtown in under 10min after the race, which is amazing considering the crowd. Buy a 3 day pass and be done with it. Much easier than driving around.

The Ferrari team stays at Hotel Le St. James on rue St. Jacques. Terrific hotel, but small: you might have a tough time getting a reservation at this late date. Your connections at FNA might be able to help you out. If not, I have a good relationship with the concierge: I'd be happy to give a call for you to see if anything is available. They will take excellent care of whatever you drive there (I've trusted them with the Ferrari.)

If not, The Queen Elizabeth is sure to have rooms and is perfectly nice.

It is very hard to get a bad meal in Montreal; from streetside poutine to the better restaurants, they are all very good. Club Chasse et Peche, Barocca, and Le Filet are among my favourites. Coeur de Cheval is popular (and good,) but overpriced in my opinion. Don't bother trying to get in to Pied de Cochon on F1 weekend.

Be sure to plan on walking around at night. Great street life up on St. Catherines and Rue Peel where they close off a block for concerts and such. I also love walking around the old city: lower Boul. St Laurent, Rue Notre Dame, etc.

Edit: I assume you'll have Paddock Club/Ferrari hospitality tickets. If not, I like grandstand 21 down on the hairpin. Good view of the action, plenty of screens for following the race. Again, you'll find navigating the course and walking around easy. The crowd, while large, is very well managed.

Haven't been to the F1 race there, but I've been to the track. If you can, get there a day or two early. The track is usually open for anyone to drive. It's not like many American tracks that are corporate owned. This track is essentially a park, so anyone can drive it.

For now I am going to keep the 599 GTO when I get the F - 12. It is too much fun to let it go.

Great news. Must feel good to know it is on its way. Been waiting awhile, I wouldn't have the patience. But then again for that car, I'm guessing I would find a way.
