That explains why so little is left on the roll...
Jon, let me rephrase my question. Do you personally rebuild the calipers or send them to a third party for rebuilding? --- Rob
Heck I'm sure I can remember scrutineering 308 Ferraris and they had tiny solid discs on the front and rear ... guess I must be mistaken, but I can remember being very unimpressed. Pete
Looking hood - keep up the great work! This body is consistent with mine in that there is lead work on the area behind the doors (and many other places). Ferrari must have cornered the market on lead in those years - there is an amazing amount used on Dinos.
With the Dino back with me and epoxy primed the next step is to get it to the metal stage. A few areas have manifested themselves after the media blast and will be cut out, replaced with new metal. A very good car overall with minimal problem areas. I received his column switches back today after being rebuilt. Every Dino I have touched has needed this as all the plastic crack with age and need to be recast among a lot of other upgrades. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The grill was pretty mangled due to some sort of shunt on the front nose. Back in shape and getting ready to paint the slats. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I picked up plating today before stopping to see Rob's Dino being painted. I loaded everything up and headed to famous Phillipi's for lunch. As I was sitting there an image came into my mind of a GOLD door catch!!!. YES they accidentally mixed 2 bins of sorted parts and plated them all gold. Luckily I was a few miles away and tried to resort what I could from memory and they redid a batch for me in 30 minutes and I was on my way. I may be making another trip as I don't think I caught every nut and bolt! Jon can you explain/describe how the plastic was recast and who did it? I have a Porsche 914 and have similar parts that are now in need of replacing.
Crazy man! I could never be a watchmaker! when dirt gets on this stuff, does it just wash off? I mean will anyone actually drive these cars?
With the owner coming down the first week of August I thought I had better show some good progress. With the plating done and parts arriving daily there are a lot of sub assemblies I can get ready for reassembly once the car is painted. A decision on paint will be done the first week of August and then we can get moving on that front. Your progress reports make me feel like I am part of the team and actually doing somethign *lol*. Very valuable and very much fun to see everything progressing. Please keep up the reports, I really love em. Matthias
Rear hubs and front wheel bearings today. I put all the panels back on the body today getting it ready to go for body and paint. No decision has been made yet on who will do that part of the job, so the body may be at my shop for awhile. Quite a contrast with this one showing all it's warts and Rob's blue car that was delivered today. Do you crack test any parts? Also don't see why you consider this shell so bad, looks okay for such an old car to me. Pete
Eric's car is moving along, at least all the refurbishment of all the various parts. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
New heat shield as the original had a lot of rot. The Horn Compressor and trumpets now ready for reassembly. How do you paint the red horn? Is that red anodized? Which colour code do you take for the beige caps? I need the red hose, do you have a source? Very good looking.
