Well the only thing that makes me suspicious is the zero feedback not the price.

That's a very early S1 and for those to whom that matters THIS was the car to get in that respect, especially if it's someone from Europe.

It's not realistic to expect an early original S1 that's in terrific shape and sells in the mid $30s.
The one from the museum does look more presentable but there could be plenty to do on the car anyway.

    We'll see.

The price is not my issue. Look closely at the body pictures. The paint was awful. The racing seatbelts signal neglect. The wrong size tires signal neglect. The interior condition signals nelect.

I tried to arrange a pre-purchase inspection (at my cost) with the seller and got told that the car ran fantastic but he would not send the car out to a local expert . I guess he didn't need to. He got top money for a questionable car with no effort. I retract the "poorly sold" portion of my last post. Well sold indeed.

    1. How long have you been looking?

    2. Sure I noticed all of that though racing style belts are NOT a sign of neglect. I have four point systems in my Bora. Semi decent S1s if everything is there are not easy to find, especially one this early. Read the rest of the thread on this car.

So maybe you shouldn't be looking at a S1 because S2s will tend to be in better condition and S3s even more so. Was this the best entre into a lower cost, least amount of trouble Espada? Certainly not. No original S1 will be.

Been looking for about a year. Series 1, 2 or 3. No rubber bumper cars, no automatics, no Countach engines with giant hood scoops.

Respectfully, I stand by my observations. They aren't guarantees of neglect, merely indications worth futher scrutiny.

    Espada gods

Sunday while driving out of the Concours of the Americas in Michigan , Garth Hammers ( good name for an Auction guy) of Gooding handed me a brochure for their Aug 17 Monterey Auction .
Lot 66 is the Grace Kelly Glass roof Series one Espada with an estimate of 175 to 275 k Yikes.

    Thoughts , comments ?

I passed on it and then bought my green car which I prefer but once again my investment instincts are right on track if they get that much. Meaning they suck. I can't load their website right now. Does it mention if a bunch more work has been done?

Hey Gary, great meeting you. The pic of your car that I put on Facebook has garnered about 40 "likes," a record for me.

Well, I guess we should be excited that Gooding has even taken on an Espada. They made good(ing) money off that periscopo Countach last year and after inspecting the car personally I don't think it was as fine a car as lp400 Dave's car. I'll be there, assuming the Citroen doesn't break down on the way up, and will be sure to check out the Espada.

If that's the car Wil Degroot had about 10 years ago or so, I passed on it at $25kUS. A few years back I asked about it and was told since then all that was done was the interior.
If that is not the Grace car, it was a blue metallic (matched the Miura) flake with glass roof.

Yeah it's glass roof car Peter. This should be interesting what with the supposed 250K euro sale of that blue car at the Giro event. It all seems somewhat surreal.
Apparently more than the interior has been addressed. How much???

If you sign up you'll see a lot more.
I spent a lot of time looking at and driving this car before it was F***ed with.
I must say, I'm rather dissapointed with what I see.
I can't really tell if the seats have perforations or not. The photos are not great.

Of course the carpeting is non original and just an ugly black. The original was light blue but 1/2" shag style carpet. Not great either but why the black?

They also removed the period after market ignition boxes which I thought was kool.
The chrome aircleaner covers are gone as well. I believe these were original given the gentleman who ordered this car.

It rather looks like a sanitized and boring with an au courant cleanup of the engine compartment.
This car did not come with red ignition wires that have the white booties on the ends.
It just looks wrong to me. My 2 cents.

Found that one along with others of your car doing a search on Espada in Flickr.

If you want to be overwhelmed with them search Lamborghini Espada. For an interesting mix of photos just search Espada.

A question to you guys regarding the early cars with louvers on the rear window.

I know there is no absolute with Lamborghinis from this era, but is there an indication of the number of cars having them originally? Or which VIN was the last one built with this feature?

    Thank you.

I don't know but Bob Huber might have some idea. He's the one reproducing them.
You can tell if a car had one by looking at the orientation of the rear vertical glass. It's turned inside out to make room for the louvers. The rubber gasket gets reversed.

They were not easily removed and thus the glass was very hard to clean. Probably more than a few got tossed out because of this is my guess.
