I just bought a 2005 360 spider and am very enthralled with the driving experience. This model perfectly captures the essence of Ferrari for me and it's styling has always allured me but at the time I was big into V12's. I finally decided on the 360 after coming to the consensus that the 430 wasnt for me because they removed the aluminum door sills and the boxy style wasn't as appealing as the curvy 360. Also the 430 engine note is a tad too boisterous like a Lamborghini instead of a perfectly balanced revvy note that my 360 has. I did look at the 458 but couldnt believe that it doesn't have the engine window or side cuts which makes it a bland car for me. I know people say to drive the 458 but it just didnt seem worth it for me. I tried to get my hands on a 599 SA Aperta or 575 superamerica but could not find the right color and options combination.

As far as options on my 360; I have the tan roll bars, F-1 transmission, no rear chalenge grill (i prefer this look), and chrome starfish wheels. I love the combination of these and dont have any upgrades planned as of yet.

I absolutely had to get the Rosso Corsa color even thought I hate all the attention especially from people who dont have exotics. Personally, if you dont have an exotic your compliment/attention means nothing to me. Does anyone else feel that way or am I just crazy? I used to buy cars specifically in midnight blue, british racing green, cosmos black, or some other non-flashy color but I coulnt'd resist on this car because it looks so darn good.

I have a lot of family and friends who ask to drive my cars. Its amazing how many people find out about your cars even if you dont tell them nothing. I was referred a handyman by a friend and the handyman saw my cars and blabbed to my friend! If the person doesnt have an exotic I usually tell them they couldnt handle it or change the subject. Has anyone come up with a better answer? IMO the poorsce turbos, r8, aston, bentley, tesla, lotus dont count and dont get me started on the asian cars.

I want to thank all the great people who add such detailed and informative posts as well as the plethora of DIY guides that make this website what it is. I love enjoying this car for myself and appreciate hearing from other owners how they enjoy their toys. We are very lucky to have such an awesome hobby for which I am very grateful.

I went through a similar mental debate. I went back and forth trying to decide btwn a 430 coupe or a 360 coupe or spyder. I wanted the more trouble free car (430) and it's performance but the looks of the 360. The 430 is a beautiful machine but the 360 is sexy. I ended up with a CS and couldn't be happier. I think it's a keeper.

You have a beautiful sexy car and live in a state with great roads and weather. Enjoy it in good health.

Wow the 360 CS is sooo awesome! I'm sure you love driving it! Which color did you get and do you have any upgrades planned?
Florida is also wonderful for sports cars and you can enjoy them all year which few east coast places can attest to.

Thank you, I am really enjoying the 360 spider.

Beautiful car! Hard to believe that car's first model year was 1999! Timeless styling; it always looks like it is the latest model.

Enjoy it in good health and many miles of top-down SoCal driving :)

Congrats! MY05 is quite rare. Enjoy in good health.

I am with you on no rear challenge grille; downside is hotter engine bay though.

I am also amazed with the attention from family and friends, you can almost feel that they look at you differently.

However, I do appreciate compliments and attentions from everyone.

Congrats on the car, but that's one of the most arrogant posts that I've read in a while... Non-exotic owner's opinions don't matter? And, further reducing the class of people that DO matter, 911 turbo owners are also excluded?

    You are just crazy.

You bought a 360. A recent R8, Porsche Turbo, ZR-1 or GTR could all probably smoke our 360s on a track.

If you don't want to let someone drive your car just say you are very careful with it, but that you would be happy to give them a ride.

    I still love your car.

I am sure you are a very nice person, but in my opinion you should not make statements like that, especially on a public forum. People may get the wrong impression.

As far as the driving thing, I tell people that I used to let everyone drive the car until I had a few bad experiences (two people smoked the clutch, one person spun the car completely around [I left accidently left the traction control off], another person came extremely close to mechanically overrevving the car and running it off of a cliff, another guy tried to speed shift into third from redline and accidently tried to throw it into first, and another guy tried to impress me [non Ferrari owner] by driving 100+ in a residential district) and now no longer allow anyone else to drive the car.

Having said all that, I am jealous! I would love to have a 360 spider one day. :)

I'm so happy! I've been window shopping for a few years and I was seriously looking to buy for months. My plan was to buy in the fall but I couldn't wait. My grandson was playing ball in Cooperstown and I decided to travel to MA. To look at a '05 Rosso/tan 360 F1 spider and bought it!! It needs a good cleaning and has a few scratches but I'm in heaven. Can't wait for it to show up at my doorstep in a few weeks. Btw my grandson team just made it to the sweet 16. Gotta keep winning!

exactly, your 360 is nice but the only things it has over those other cars are the looks and the Ferrari name... don't be that snobby exotic owner

    +1.

To the OP. Don't be that guy... The world does not need another arrogant exotic car owner. If anything, it screws things up for the rest of us.

You have a Ferrari... no offense, but BFD. It doesn't make you special or exclusive, the only thing it means is that you had the ability to spend a significant amount of money on a depreciating asset.

That being said, a Ferrari remains an object of aspiration for many. IMHO, Owners should be cognizant of that and do what they can to share the experience with other enthusiasts in every way they know how.

Oh, and just remember, every time you look down on someone from the lofty perch of a Ferrari 360, there is a guy with a 1957 Ferrari 250 testarossa who thinks your car is a glorified FIAT. Do you really want to get involved in that pissing contest?

Anyway, your car is beautiful. Congrats and enjoy many safe miles with your new ride.

My jaw dropped in disbelief right now!
I can't even to begin to understand your logic. Please explain it to me. I'm trying to figure out why a compliment from another exotic owner is worth more than a non owners compliment. Do exotic owners have better opinions regarding beauty? A non-exotic owner can't recognize beauty when they see it? As a young kid we all drooled over exotics because we wanted an exotic one day, were we not allowed to compliment an owner until we purchased one of our own because it meant nothing?
So what you are saying is that if I compliment your car today, my compliment is valuable, but if I complimented you a year ago before I bought my Ferrari, my opinion was worthless?
If I saw you drive by today and complimented you, you would not appreciate my compliment because you wouldn't know I was an owner because my exotic car was parked at home at the time. It just seems weird to me.
I really don't see a correlation, please explain this to me because I appreciate all compliments from all people whether it's a compliment about my cars, children, self, house etc.
There are plenty of guys that can afford 20 of your cars (easily), but don't own an exotic because they really don't care about cars. Are you going to look down on those people also?
I must be strange, not only do I appreciate all compliments from all people, but I also give compliments to others as well. If I see a car that is obviously loved and maintained nicely, I compliment the owner. I don't care if it's a Hyundai or a Lamborghini Veneno. From what you said, it appears to me that you are not a car guy and just bought the car because you can, or for status so you can place yourself a notch above the other guys. If I am way off base, I apologize in advance, and an explanation would be great (of course not necessary because it is just my opinion).
Anyway, you scored a gorgeous car. Drive it in good health!

Dont need to diss on the other performance cars. Love your car but also good cars like AMG Benzes and GTRs as well as Porsche GT3. I'm looking for a 360 Spyder right now in Giallo yellow. Best deal going now for used exotic since everyone wants either a 430 or 458.
