As part of the continuing education I get here at FChat, I thought it would be a good idea to get together, in one thread, pictures and info on all the cars once owned and commissioned by members of royal families around the globe.

Because I prefer the vintage ones, like King Leopold's many cars, I decided to put this thread here. Also because I don't really give a damn about the rich son of some dictator's neon green Enzo. I'm more interested in the cars made back when Enzo himself oversaw the deals. And perhaps to see some modern pictures of the cars under their new custodians.

They don't have to be special coachbuilt models, it would just be a nice resource to have them all under one thread.

If this thread exists somewhere already, please accept my apologies. If not, then lets see what you got!

He had some type of early barchetta, maybe more than one. I don't think the cars ever saw Vietnam, though, as I think the French were bribing him to stay over on the French Riviera so they could run things in French Indochina as they preferred to call it.

My only "proof" it might have been made for him is when I had some factory publicity photos from Pininfarina , handwritten on the back of some of them were the personages the cars were built for.

Ed, that's a beauty. California plates means it must have gone through your ownership at some point, yes?

The Shah of Iran's 1957 Ferrari 410 Superamerica.

"In July 1957 this Paris Salon car was sold new to Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran. Empress Soraya Esfandiary of Persia got the car as a parting gift before the Shah got a new wife.

"The car came to America in the 1960s and passed through several different hands. It was the 1978 "Best in Class" winner at Pebble Beach and 1980 "Best of Show" and "Phil Hill Award" winner at the FCA Nationals. The car was recently given a complete restoration and engine rebuild by Gran Turismo Motors in Glendale, California. It last appeared in the Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance in August 2002. The car was sold to its current owner Wayne Nelson of Longwood, Florida."

One of the more well known royal cars is Prins Bernhard of the Netherlands' stunning Pininfarina Ferrari 250 GT Coupe Speciale #0725GT.
In fact, he had a wide array of Ferrari's including a 212 Inter and a 456.

A gorgeous car! Thanks for sharing. The 330GT 2+2 remains on my list of greatest Enzo era Ferrari's. I hope to be able to own one, someday.

Something about that subtle gold pinstripe really elevates the look of this car. Gorgeous!

Agreed. It seems to point out the edgy qualities of the design.

Thank you for this fantastic picture. Not knowing who is who, you could be forgiving thinking that Enzo was the King. He looks so dapper so perfect. The tie, the shirt and the suit - he looks like a movie star. You would never think that he came from such humble beginnings.
Great picture of two powerful men.

That's not 0717 with Soraya, the Shah and Enzo. Additionally, though it was supposed to go to Paris, it never made it.
