how so? In 2004 he won the title by a landslide and in 2005 and 2006 he suddenly became old and bored? Of course not.
Alonso beat MS and Ferrari because Alonso and Renault were brilliant. That doesn't take anything away from either driver or team imo
So you're a young gun at 38 yet old at 41? You're just trying to fit your agenda. Old MS destroyed the field in 2004 and gave 25 year old Alonso all he could handle in 2006 in a worse car. These are facts. Are you best friends with him? Because I base my statement on facts and what MS has told the media many times: 1.) 38, Schumi's age in 2006, is ancient by F1 standards 2.) He had already won everything there is to win - multiple times 3.) He has stated that he was tired of the circus and no longer willing/able to give his maximum dedication and focus by 2006
Ferrari's wind tunnel coroboration has never been that great, hence why they exclusively used Toyota's tunnel in Germany for F138. Renault simply had a better car in 05 and 06. Michael was amazing in 06 though, and in 07 he should have bagged that title, and 98, 97 for that matter. Same as Alonso should have bagged last year's title and the year before that, undoubtedly the driver of the field.
+1 Supposedly, about the best out there right now, at least of those available for 'rent'. IIRC, they're doing 'major upgrades' to theirs right now - In fairness it was getting long in the tooth - Was opened in '97, so it's served 'em pretty well over the years. Cheers, Ian
Haven't we been hearing this for years now? Come to think of it, the cars have been squirrelly for years now, so maybe that's it! My goodness, let's get this done already! This seems to be a multi-year problem so how about they put some (more) resources on it and fix it? Or I guess there's always next year. -F
The f2007 and f2008 were good cars too. But that was when testing was permitted. If testing was allowed again, given how talented Fred is, they would definitely do good.
