Watch your poll Dave....The market speaks And I pick my experts carefully just like I pick the specialists I work with. No one is 100% all the time, but I value expertise over innuendo any day of the week.
Dave... It seems like the only "correct" answer you are willing to accept is your own.... And Who really CARES anyway? They are just cars.... The car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for that particular car at that specific time. If they want a spider in that color with those specific options/mods, they will pay up for it. Thats the car that will bring the most money when its sold. Period.... Here... the GTS/GTB will be worth millions and is for serious Tifosi... The spider is worthless and for posers.... LOL!!! Feel better now??
Car is worth as much as the last person paid and next buyer willing to pay, anything else in between is nothing but market value and wet dream. lol
I think GTS/GTB bring more than spiders, in many cases GTB's seem to bring the most. It has nothing to do with what I own (I know that's hard to believe). Pete, you were one of two spider owners that I am aware of that actually agree. My statements are just a reflection of what I experienced in the market watching these cars for years. Do I really care? No, I don't. I did not purchase my car as an investment - I bought it to enjoy and it really does not matter to me what a person loves, we are all different.
Can we all just agree that our cars are fukn awesome?? The 355...in any any configuration...is still, to my eyese, the prettiest road going Ferrari of the modern era. We should all be happy to have one and enjoy it as much as we can while we still have the chance to do so...
+355 And the last thing we as owners should do, is try to bring down values of any 355, regardless of configuration.
Who cars if one model worth a few hundreds or a few thousands over another. All 355's are nice regardless if it is a coupe, targa, spider or colors. Better yet, we all should buy one of each and sit on it for 20 years.
It will be interesting in the long run. They all have their ups (...no downs!) Berlinetta is the best driver, stiffer chassis. GTS gives you the open top with the lines of the B. Spider is a true drop top - with NOTHING behind you. There really is no other Ferrari like it (except 348 spider... but that's another can of worms).
I love reading that people value the spider more. I much prefer GTS/GTB. hope this stays true when I am in the market!!
Reading June/July Cavallino and came accross this interesting value chart. Summary, 94-98 GTB are $45-70k 95-98 GTS, $55-80k 95-99 spider, $50-80k F1 GTB, $50-85k same for F1 GTS F1 spider, $55-90k Image Unavailable, Please Login
Numbers are way off in certain cases, particularly 512M. You can't touch one for even the high value listed there, at least in the US.
If I could get a 512M for $75,000, I'd buy one today. I'd be tempted at $110k. A flooded salvage 512M just went for over $69k at insurance auction, so there is absolutely no way that price range is correct.
Interesting survey. I know you're probably talking Stateside but in the UK there's a huge overlap between models, this site has pretty much the whole market on it and if you lay it out like this it tells a story: Used Ferrari 355 cars for sale with PistonHeads ....... The story being it makes not a jot of difference, depends what the buyer wants and with a relatively small market there's enough wanting each one to create a demand. Not in your survey but perhaps more interesting is the fact that the likes of the 348 and 355 are rising in price quite quickly over here, there's now a noticeable overlap between 348s and 360s which there has never been before. 328s are probably rising the quickest at the mo going from about £35k as a top end 2 years ago to £55k (or £60k asking in one case) or there abouts today, they are rapidly approaching the 'tail' of the 430 market. 348s - £30k 2 years back, now £40k so 25% up (guessing you can work that out yourselves) over the same period. (time to buy Andrew, time to buy!!!) Anyway, older models are gaining in value pretty rapidly here, especially when compared to newer models. Annoying the hell out of the likes of 360 owners but meh, can live with that if I have to
1999 Ferrari F355 Spider Cars For Sale in SA - CarPoint Australia =~US$225,000 That is a very high ask, even for over here. But, you guys really do have it good...
Blimey! The fact that the car in that list which is closest in spec to my car - which I bought in the UK 2 years ago - is advertised for more than 33% higher than mine surely tells a story, regardless of the individual car (and mine was immaculate).
Time to get some shipping containers and grab some 355s and head down under! I really cant imagine that car selling for anywhere near that. Can it?
I have mixed feelings. I think all of the models are close in price. The GTS's (right now) are getting the highest prices and taking the least amount of time to sell if owners and dealers are realistic on condition and other factors. The GTB's have the second fewest on the market or very close to GTS quantities in the US and sell quickly based on price and condition. The spiders originally commanded the highest price premiums when new like most Ferrari's with spider variants. They seem to be the majority of what is for sale in the US no matter what time of year. They seem to be for sale forever... I also think most go for the lowest prices of the three models. Maybe supply and demand at work. I think that good spiders will be the highest price of the three models in 20 years (not now) because so many will fall into disrepair. But you are likely to be set on what you want and will adjust price accordingly. I'd love one of each model. They are all uniquely beautiful Ferraris. Robb
