    Can someone with a spider show me what this is supposed to look like? Mine looks like this and the adhesive is messing up the rear window. I know there is a removable snap thing that I don't have but this part isn't right

    What the heck is that? My 1999 Spider does not have that. Looks messy.

    I took it off it was a piece if Velcro and the adhesive was messing up my widow

    How is the female part of that center snap affixed to the boot? I looked at another one today and it didn't have the female on the boot. There is a male on the body.

    On the body my boot has 6 females. One on each side by the doors, one on each side all the way to the back of the quarter panels, and one on each side in the area of the rear hood hinges. There is not one in the center. In the cockpit there are three. one on each side behind the seats, and one in the center just above the console. No velcro. Yours looks like something a previous owner put on.

    Thanks John. So that male dead center on the body is not used. It appears the a PO tried to configure a female on the boot and now the adhesive from the velcro has mucked up my window right there.

    When I first got my Spider, I went to a car show and saw a perfect fly yellow 348 (thanks Dennis.. it always wins the concours) and checked out his boot as it came from the factory. It has the snap just below the center of the plastic window, but then the other part of the snap was mounted not to the boot, but to a piece of Velcro, that was then supposed to be stuck to the boot. Didn't really make sense to me. I just punched a hole in the boot and stuck in a snap so it clicks in easy now.

    I will punch a hole also as mine has no center snap. Makes sense as mine flaps around and sand scratches the lid. Thanks for the idea.

    Ferrari F355 M5.2 (1996+) Parts : Table 115 - TOP -VALID FOR SPIDER-

    Before you punch holes in it I would take a look at part #3 in this diagram. I believe that is the female snap in question and I think it velcros to the inside of the boot in that position.

    I do not have that part but a car I was looking at to buy, the owner made special reference to having that part and showed me it. It was nothing more than a piece of velcro with a snap on it but had a Ferrari tag.

    Maybe someone who has that can confirm that this is the case or not.

    Its a 3/4 x 1.5" plastic with a snap on one side and Velcro on the other, have it on mine

    How about that! I went back and checked mine again after seening the picture. Turns out I do have the same female snap as Paul in addition to the ones I mentioned. It was hidden by the way the top folds. I never noticed it because there is not a snap on the boot cover, thus I never looked for it on the car. My error.

    Top cover seems to stay on just fine w/o it. And yes, it does look like #3, $15 from Ricambi for a piece of velcro and a snap.

    Looks like to me that # 3 is inside the car, not outside behind the window.

    It IS the part #3 ("button").
    Before I install the top cover, I attach this little thing to the button in the middle of the top below the rear window (top is down at this moment). When I am finished with fastening all the TENAX-buttons my last step is to press the top cover onto this Velcro.
    The part seen on the 1st picture is simply broken. The lower part with the button is missing.

    David that is just for diagrammatic purposes. As Tim said, that is the missing female snap for the rear central snap. No idea why they didn't permanently affix it to the boot but the person who designed it must have had a reason. I am going to order it from Ricambi.

    OH, got you. Thanks, mine looks like it never had that. No marks or anything. It will keep that portion of the boot from rubbing the deck lid and making scratches.
