Looks like the passenger window motor has died and the window is open 2 inches.

Going on a long trip tomorrow and I really want to close the window fully.

Is there anyway I can close it or do I have to tape it up?

12v directly to the motor. Take off the slats from outside of door for access.

inside door panel off and access motor. There might be a square hole in there where you can dial up window if 12v direct fails. You can also crack the motor open and screw the jackscrew manually. Once you see it a way will become apparent.

The switches are crap and the door jamb wiring is a common failure. The power for the passenger side window comes through the driver's side. Either door jamb or switch could be the problem but the driver's door is opened more often. Apply 12 volts to the motor directly before digging into anything else.

The outside door panel is pretty easy to remove but there are a couple nuts at the front end and a small phillips screw in the rear jamb area besides the allen-head screws on the outside.

If you remove the outer door panel be careful to not over tighten the two nuts inside the door at the front when reinstalling. I learned the hard way overtightening will pull the panel forward and cause interference between the front of the panel and rear of the fender. This results in paint damage when the panel and door come into contact when the door is opened/closed. Removing this panel provides better access to the motor and wiring.
