Pre 1968. What is the general convention to giving a Ferrari a model year designation. I know Ferrari did not pay much attention to this. For example, is a car built December 31, 1964 a 1964 or 1965? And if it is a 1965, what is the date of manufacture that would begin the 1965 "model year"?

    Thanks

...back in those days if it was finished in 1965, it was a 1965.

In that era, with Ferrari, there were no Model Year designations. Various models of Ferraris were refered to by the actual date they were completed. In other words, a 330 GT 2+2 completed in January 1965 was a 1965 car. All this gets complicated by the fact that in this era, many states titled used imported Farraris in the year they arrived, so you see a 275 GTB built in 1965, titled as a 1967 because that is when the car arrived in the US. Also, as the EPA rules went in to effect at the end of 1967, a lot of 1968 build date Ferraris suddenly became "late 1967" build dates.

Thank you. My 330 GT 2+2 has always been referred to as a 1967. The build sheet states a 9/27/66 build date. How should I refer it now-a 1966 or 1967?

    Thanks

    Dan: You own a 1966 330 GT 2+2.
