Yesterday I parked my car (European 2004 360 Modena F1) under power lines
Locked the car with the remote and left
Came back around midnight, unlocked the car with my remote, no problem
Got in the car and phoned a friend for about half an hour
Then I wanted to leave, but I couldn’t start the car
I could not lock or unlock the car anymore with my remote
The red light on the remote was on and it seemed to function properly, but there was no reaction from the car
Tried the remote hundreds of times at various positions, shook it, opened it, but nothing worked
So at 2 AM I decided to sleep in the car and call my Ferrari specialist the next morning
Woke up at 7:30, tried the remote one more time – out of frustration – and it worked!!
Started the car and drove home
Today I tried the remote at least 50 times in my garage, not a single failure
Can anyone explain this? Can power lines disturb the alarm system?

I'm going to hazard a guess. The 12v battery on your FOB is probably low. I would change it out just for peace of mind and carry a spare at all time. Ferrari recommend changing out the battery every 6 months. I've hidden a spare battery and a small screwdriver outside of my car just in case.

    That is quite crazy!

Glad the problem cured itself overnight. Sounds like the FOB battery to me also...

    Thanks for your suggestions!
Contacted my Ferrari specialist yesterday (Forza Service in Oss, Netherlands)
It was not the battery, the power lines caused the issue
Forza told me that they parked about 50 Ferrari's under a power line during a meet
Most of them refused to start, the magnetic field of the power line interered with the signal sent by the remote...so they had to push the cars about 100 m away from the line...
Something to keep in mind when you park your car :)

I've had a similar thing with my Boxster.. I parked it at walmart to get some things and noticed the FOB wouldn't unlock the car as readily. I thought it might be the store security system interfering with the alarm system. Interesting.
