True, some owners of GTR's that have been converted for the road have turned down offers that exceed what roadcar prices have gone for recently.....

Been mentioned here and there already but Gooding and Company will auction McLaren F1, chassis 066, at their Monterey sale in just a few weeks. While their catalog description does not include an official estimate, I can tell you that expectations are for a high 7-figure selling price. Should be very exciting!

See here for the full catalog description and more photos:

Wow! The pace at which these cars are rising is unbelievable. How many F1's are on the market today?

Other than the car that Gooding will auction I know of just two that could be bought today - one for a lot more money than the other, but it is fairly special. There may be other owners out there with a number in mind, but most of these cars are never offered very publicly when they change hands.

If I could, I would have already. ;)

No one should be selling a car before the Gooding auction happens next week anyway.

It's chassis 012 - it has been sold multiple times in the past three years, so many it has been difficult keeping count.

They have suggested the car will remain in the UK now and that it seems to have found a more permanent home.

Some said that despite the headline, Tom left a decent amount of money on the table with that one.

Anyway, the car has arrived in the USA and went to Wallace Labs in Houston for its EPA testing. I haven't seen or heard whether that has been finished but it can take some time. Should be done by now though...

Was there something else you were wondering?

Intersting; Tom (& family) are pretty damn smart; really doubt they left much on the table.

What was the history of this car? Did 7.7 meet the expected estimate?

    The long way home
The estimate wasn't published by Gooding. There was some chatter online that the car could reach 8 figures, so based on that and the recent run up in F1 prices, it could be considered well bought.

Does anyone know where the car will call home next?

Actually the car sold for $8.47M - $7.7M was only the hammer price.
