Hope he's got his own business jet; otherwise, he will soon be the worst nightmare of any "frequent flyer" program...better consider a racing career in the U.S...
(I would miss him, should he decide to relocate)

AFAIK she does the UK X-Factor and spends a lot of time in LDN. So they should be able to sort of live together in the UK

True but I've heard of heavy hitters flying on regular airliners. Alonso tweeted a pic last year of him aboard a Singapore air flight on his way to the race

    Very true.

I assume in first class?... Pretty nice way to go long haul. Way cheaper than your own gig I guess.

Dunno what range LH's bird has?

How many current jockeys/principals/Bernie's etc use their own jets I wonder?

    Cheers,
    Ian

    That's it I reckon.

I reckon around 7 fly away races a year (some follow close so most stay near the area and don't bother flying back to Europe), lets assume 12 hours each way.

That's 144 hours already. At 8K an hour (roughly) on a G4 that'll be over a million in flights that are long haul.

Yeah, I'd take the free business class tickets that the team pay for and upgrade to First (actually...I wouldn't upgrade to first even if I happened to be a jockey sized F1 driver).

I think most drivers make around 3-5 million a year based on their salary + bonus. I'd say only the Ferrari, Merc, RB, Kimi and Button are making over 10. Spending 10% of yearly income for a few flights a year is ludicrous, let alone 20 or 35%.

Even for someone whos rich. Its insanely cheaper to fly first class than on a nice private jet. Ive been on both and unless its a larger private jet 10+ seats its not fun at all. The novelty wears off very fast

Particularly on the long haul flights to the orient.

Except doesn't he now live in Monaco? [If so, it's obviously to avoid tax, which is OK as long as he doesn't spend more than XX days/nights in the UK every year. [IIRC, the # was 30 years back, dunno about now?]

    +1

However, I reckon I could spec a G4 to work for me and my "entourage". ;)

The real beauty of course is the sucker's on *your* schedule....

    Cheers,
    Ian

You have to spend less than half your time in the UK to name another place as your main residence. Beauty of this is that travel days are included; So if you leave on monday, spend 2 days in monaco and return on thursday, they count it as 4 days, even if you left Monday 23:59 and returned on thursday 00.01.

*This might have changed recently but not when I last checked.

I think that's what draws people most to a private jet. Spending countless hours dicking around on an airport getting your privates checked out by a bunch of perverts gets irritating. With a private jet it leaves when you are ready, and passport control takes seconds...If you fly often, definitely a must!
