I was looking forward to picking up my new 2005 F430 this Thursday, when I received a requested Carproof, and noticed there was a reported accident. I really don't want to take the risk, and had to cancel. Not the best start to my Ferrari life, but I won't give up that easily. On the lookout for a replacement!

Why didn't you have the car proof before you made the deal? That would have eliminated the let down

Good point, I relied on the word of the Ferrari dealer that it was accident free. Despite this, I wanted the Carproof for future resale, and that is when I discovered there was a problem. It was probably a honest mistake, which is why it's disappointing.

How much was the claim amount? Its possible the damage could have been very minor. Something like a parking lot bump, or he tore the mirror off going into the garage etc..Lots of reasons for claims. But on a Ferrari a dented door is far more expensive to fix then on a Ford. A 10k claim is not out of the ordinary.

There was no insurance claim, only a police report. The previous owner paid without a claim. The police accident report said "front complete". Sounds expensive!

A complete front would be a $30-$40k hit to get fixed at a dealer. Doubt that some guy paid that out of pocket.

There are enough 430s you can cherry pick.

Find the best one around and pay half price from new for it , and enjoy it !

Daytona auto always has at least 1 430 in stock. Check them out. Right now they have a silver coupe and a red spider. Not only that but Max, their main Ferrari mechanic was in on the design of the 430 and can do some amazing stuff with these cars.

If you are in the Toronto area I have noticed on my daily commute that the dealer on Queen St. E. in the Beach has a 430 in their showroom (also a 348 tb). I think they are called Queen Compact Cars or something like that.
