No worries Bob, all is good. I thought the "Silly boy that was Miura" remark was yet another nitpicking fly-in-the-ointment comment, but perhaps I should now thank you for clarifying that it wasn't.

I can't find any tests with Car and Driver, Road & Track and Motor Trend. CAR magazine of England had April 1969 cover.

Anyone know of any other magazine articles?

in France back in september 1987 by JF Marchet, the same author that wrote at first a special book devoted only to Miura, then to Countach, to Espada front V12, to Urraco... with his fellow Peter Coltrin !

I have about 5 other press articles published within the last 10 years, but this one is also period and the very 1st French article published about Islero back in July 1968.

José Rosinski test driven it in June, publication in July and the same car was the 2nd Islero to appear in a car exhibition after Geneva 1st release.

It was in September 1968 at "Salon Automobile de Paris"...

Just for your information it is the 3rd Islero prototipo, telaio #6009...

    Dear Joe,

A few month ago Kevin Crauwels has compiled a pretty complete list of Islero articles. Here is a link to it:

For sure there are some more. F.e the Japanese period articles but no further info so far. I will check if the magazines in the previous posts are already on my list and will add them if not.

That's a legal cage? Not much side protection but I'm not familiar with vintage Le Mans requirements.

Absolutely, it complies with the FIA rules for vintage series, back in 1975 there were no side protection and no underdash protection.

these people have the knowledge and if you pay attention, they have done this kind of job on many Vinatge Ferrari regularly involved in historic racing.

It must be "bolt on" and it is better built quality than the one fitted back in 1975.
For the story, Paul Rilly told me that of course none were existing for a Lamborghini.
So, he bought a 3.0 CS BMW roll cage to fit it, it was narrower Inside as the period pic shows...

What's the reason for it having to be be bolt on?

GTX category in which Islero was registered is still a street car while for instance Group IV is a full racing conversion ! Because the Islero will keep a street registration, it is forbidden to titled with a welded roll cage.

Nowadays for instance, Porsche is not authorised anymore to supply a brand new 991 RS like it did with the street car 964 RS N/GT with a welded to chassis rollcage.

My apologies: it is 6441 in both those articles.

On a different note, does anyone have the production details for 6189 and 6441?
The first Lambo I saw in the flesh as a kid was a light blue Islero in Sydney in 1970. I have been trying to work out which it was. Quite a day as there was a Munch Mammut on the footpath next to it.

#6189 : should have been delivered to Socaria in Belgium the 3rd March 1968, Argento/nero

#6441 : delivered new to Mitchell Australia, the 14th August 1969, RHD, A/C, Bleu/senape... may be this one is yours !

    Thanks Olivier

My confusion is that I believe 6189 was in Australia in RHD and 'S' spec by 1970 (according to an article I read in 1974 or 75 when both 6441 and 6189 met up). I wish I could remember the interior colour of the one I saw.

Of course 6441 was destroyed in a massive fatal accident in 1975 and 6189 was last heard of in 1998 apparently being exported to the UK.
