There are of course many things which could cause this but might be worth mentioning that a couple of days after I bought my 328 (which has been sitting in the POs garage for many months) I lost a cylinder bank. I stopped by the side of the road and has a fiddle around with the low tension connectors on the bottom of the coils and the other bank burst into life with a huge bang as unburnt fuel was ignited. I later did a proper fix by cleaning the connectors and the problem never returned. Worth checking this because on the 328 the slats in the engine cover allow water to run onto the coils and run down into these connectors.
It was the spark plugs and some kind of Adjustment that needed to be done to the Fuel System thanks for all your help.
Cool. Now you're fixed up perfectly in time to take the wife for a nice open top weekend drive so she'll "get it". And it sounds like you've developed a relationship with a local mechanic.
