the denial is not very straightforward, though; "we are not giving a thought at drivers replacement right now"....

How nostalgic! I remember the last time Ferrari spent months denying that they had signed Kimi, back in 2006. Of course, they actually had signed him, and sure enough he replaced Schumacher for 2007 and won the title.

Ferrari's denials of driver signings are worthless, because they have a great track record of lying. They lied about not signing Kimi, they lied about not signing Alonso. Who would ever believe a Ferrari driver denial?

Would be a waste of time IMO, he's not motivated enough for Ferrari, even if Alonso has decided to go to RB or elsewhere. 2007 was a fluke.

Well, that man Pekka Franck from SuomiF1 is right in at least one thing: in any press communiqué, just like he says, what is important are the exact words used, that is exactly what is said (and also what is not said, alluded, suggested, etc...).
Nobody knows this better, and is better adept at this game than Ferrari; the Vatican, perhaps?

Remember that year during the sixties when Enzo Ferrari, enraged about the technicalities for Le Mans, kept saying: "Ferrari will not come to Le Mans this year"; and when his cars did show up for the race, italian journalists asked him: "but you were saying that Ferrari will not come to Le Mans?";
And the grand old man answered: "when I said this, "Ferrari" was meaning myself, not the Scuderia...and I did not go"

And Ferrari's "communiqué", in so far as all the communiqué is quoted in extenso by the BBC, is not a denial about Kimi having been considered, or signed a contract for the matter.
It only says that at the moment, they are not interested in the driver's market, and that's all.

Whether anyone in Finland or elsewhere has proof that a contract between Kimi and Ferrari is already signed is another matter altogether. It would be nice for this guy and his internet-site's credibility that they are sure of their sources.

Good spirit must prevail here, it is "silly season" after all, everything remains possible, even that Massa eventually keeps the seat for 2014, which would not surprise me very much.
Meanwhile, the Kimster is probably fishing, in Switzerland, or Finland, or anywhere else.
We'll probably know for sure very soon, perhaps even at Monza.

nerofer, hell broke loose after this website announced that it's certain that Kimi will go to Ferrari, that the contract is already signed.

Franck called Sport Bild after they published their scoop and it turned out that Bild got their information from Kimi's close circle, whereas Franck got his infomration from an Italian reliable source. When I heard that Bild got it from Kimi's close circle I dismissed the scoop right away - so far nobody in Kimi's close circle has at anytime told anything that would prove to be true, I thought it was deliberately leaked out - and still think that too.

But Ferrari have their way of speaking the truth, in 2009 they repeatedly told that Kimi has a contract when asked about the rumour of Alonso taking his place.

Kimi probably has a contract already, I think it's with RBR. He is in Finland and he has been partying hard without a worry in the world. He was asked about the Ferrari-rumour and he said 'no comment'. It would not be the first time Kimi and his managers pull off a trick, building a smokescreen and when the truth comes out it's the opposite. In 2009 the negotiations with McLaren, they kept implying they were ongoing although Kimi had long before that negotiated a WRC-deal with RBR. Nobody saw that one coming.

The Lotus-deal was signed 3 weeks before it was announced and it came as a surprise to many, everybody thought Kimi was negotiating with Williams.

So chances are that Kimi goes to McLaren or Mercedes, lol.

 

I still don't believe it. But if it turns out to be true: I got a big bottle of champagne in the fridge.

Alonso/Kimi at Ferrari would be a new dream team. Senna/Prost reloaded.

I actually heard the contrary, and that Kimi is staying put at Lotus, but it's equally speculative and based on reported meetings taking place behind the scenes. All that tells me is that they are having the discussions, not arriving at any decisions.

Andreas, from your mouth to God's Ears. Would that be awesome for Kimi back at Ferrari, let's see the fireworks start.

 

Vettel came up from Torro Rosso, it seems a good choice to move up a driver from TR and give him a chance.

 

Or he could be staying at Lotus and Massa stays too, or maybe Ferrari try somebody else.

Kimi fits as well at Ferrari as Alonso fitted at McLaren, would be a terrible move. Again 2007 was a fluke.

Why would Raikkonen want to play second fiddle for Alonso?
Why would Ferrari want to pay a lot of $ to a star driver just to use him as a number 2?

I see things staying as they're now, maybe just swapping Massa for some mid-field driver like Hulkenberg or DiResta.
