If that is the case does that make Alonso the #2 driver lol.

Even if they start the season and let the points leader become the #1 how do you think Alonso would handle being a Massa to Kimi. This will get interesting.

Ferrari makes sense with Kimi's comment that some people will think his decision would be dumb.

This makes Ferrari a real challenger for the WCC. Actually I would put my money on them. It would also be insane if kimi wins another wdc with Ferrari after leaving!

Heard the same. Announcement for Ricciardo at spa, and likely Kimi at Monza.

Heikki Kulta, a Finnish F1 reporter and normally pretty accurate anything revolving Kimi, has been posting lost about Kimi, but now when he attaches images they're of Kimi from his time at Ferrari rather that Lotus clothes/cars.

I hope it's true. Lotus is looking very fragile currently, likely putting plenty of cash (they don't really have) into the development for the remaining races and therefore not working as hard on the 2014 car. Merc and Ferrari have already started, and Ferrari having given up on this year (Merc and Red Bull are just to strong).

Lotus stopped evolving as quick and promising as they did earlier in the year round about when James Allison left for Ferrari. Maybe JA is key to Kimi signing for Ferrari.

The one thing I'd be weary of signing for Red Bull is Herr Marko...Very untrustworthy character and Kimi definitely doesn't need a person like him ruining his ****.

Alonso and Kimi are buddies too...Whether Alonso likes having Kimi there does remain to be seen.

Going to be an exciting couple of weeks, I really hope he's back in red!

If Massa can't get Lotus' seat he should go WEC.

More money and a more competitive drive at Ferrari.

Why would Ferrari want not just one driver in his 30s, but two? I don't get it. Alonso and Kimi have 3 years more to go max IMO.

They're going to use them up now before they make Vettel a large offer.

    +1

I think this is only a temp gap fill. 2 - 3 years tops, then the Vettel at Ferrari era will begin.

It will be interesting to see for how long Kimi's contract is. My guess would be only on an annual basis. Not that it matters too much anyway.

Schumacher did well until he was 43.

That gives them 10 and 11 years each. Technically.

It would be fantastic of course, but this year is their best chance yet in recent years and even then it doesn't look good. If Mercedes is also quick at spa it'll be between merc and Vettel. Lotus is bringing an update to spa though, but that's their last one and they're simply lacking resources.

Serious question, has any driver had more than one tenure at Ferrari? I can't think of a single driver in F1 that drove for the Prancing Horse, left, and then was allowed back.

    Andretti
Early seventies and then again in 82.

    Berger
In the eighties and then again in the nineties.

And I bet there were a bunch more in the fifties when there were lots of different people driving F1 Ferraris during the season depending on just what race it was.
