Well I hope some of you got in on the deal. It tried but the page would never finish loading and when it did said the item was no longer available. Oh well.

I missed out too. The $99 16GB now show as "This listing has ended."

I wonder why they have 3 listings for the $149 32GB models; maybe to spread out the buyers to minimize the lag?

Yeah, I've got cords showing on one of my HP touchpad cables. It doesn't move either; maybe left/right a bit when reading/browsing before bed. I'll look into a case. I haven't used the touchpad in a while now.

Yeah I don't know. I tried in a couple different windows and on two different computers. I'm sure there will be lots of them up on craigslist tomorrow!

Continued support is a good sign!

    RE: Android

I finally took the plunge and installed Android Ice Cream Sandwich on my TouchPad and so far so good. I love having access to the Android store (Play) and the apps that aren't available for WebOS, e.g. the ability to markup PDFs.

If anyone is interested, I followed the steps in this article: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/install-android-ice-cream-sandwich-hp-touchpad-minutes/

There are also "nightly" upgrades as discussed in this article: http://liliputing.com/2012/03/official-cyanogenmod-9-nightlies-available-for-hp-touchpad.html

    RE: Accessories

HP has discounted the case and charger to $5 each, http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/search-SimpleOfferSearch?PageSize=15&search=&SearchTerm=touchpad.

I received my case a few days ago and love the slim fit; IIRC it was $50 when introduced! A friend of mine has had one for several months and despite the admittingly "flimsy" first impression he said it doesn't shown any signs of wear.

    ^ A+++ AWESOME!!!!!

My HP Touchpad is now living as an Android device (thanks to your links) and works GREAT. My lord, it is fast, stable, and wide open to the Google Play (Market). It is like a new lease on life. A bazillion thanks for those links!

My tablet fully sync'd with my Google account and all my apps from my Bionic were auto-magically synced onto the tablet. Really, it is heroically awesome!

Happy to spread word. I have no clue how the CyanogenMod folks work their wonders but I'm grateful they do.

A few days in, I can safely say this mod has given new life to the TouchPad. It is 1000% better as an Android tablet than it was as WebOS.

Agreed, plus still in quasi-beta form. Us poor 'ol TouchPad owners have a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich well before most Android owners! :D

I love me some Google :) (and this thing can run Chrome Beta which just rules since my whole world syncs right up)

As you can see in the background, Remy is thoroughly unimpressed with the today's activities at Ricambi America.

    Looks good.

I've got mine (Android) linked to a $12 tomtom bluetooth external GPS receiver and it works great as car GPS system. Working on a note taking system now, I see that OneNote is on the Play Store but if anyone else has a recommendation I'm open to suggestions.

Great timing as just yesterday I was showing off, err educating :)D) my new colleagues on the joy of tablet ownership and note taking.

I want a stylus/handwriting supported app so I've been trying out these three:

    LectureNotes (Trial Version), https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.acadoid.lecturenotestrial

This one seems the most complete and best supported, i.e. frequent updates and very favorable comments from users. I like that it has export to PDF and indexing features.

The cons for me are that it doesn't have a designated writing area (i.e. where you write it where it stays) and the font doesn't automatically resize. However, given the apparent responsiveness of the developer this might be down the road if/when someone asks for it. Maybe that should be me.

    Handrite Note Free, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=my.handrite

This one is probably the most aesthetically pleasing, e.g. cute bookshelf :)D). It has a writing area at the bottom of the screen which helps eliminate the hand/wrist from touching the screen and can resize the font, which allows me to write large for convenience but for the end product to be smaller. Also, I like how it has a dedicated area at the top to add labels.

    FreeNote, note everything, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.suishouxie.freenote

I've used this one the most and pretty much daily for several weeks. I like its categorizing feature better and how it uses pages instead of notebooks.

It needs improvement in terms of sharing/exporting though, i.e PDF and the ability to share/export the whole notebook, not just the page.

    ---

FWIW, I haven't yet bought the paid version of one but at < $6 I think they are all a good deal.

    ---

If handwriting support isn't important, take a look at Evernote, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evernote.

    ---

    Hope this helps.

Wow, just realized I posted about my TouchPad's possible replacement...

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/technology/419122-b-n-nook-hd-hd-blowout-sale.html

...a year ago to the day of the above post.

    So far generally so good.

The last month or two it had been giving me some occasional issues (locking up, blue screen, etc), which got me thinking about the Nook HD/HD+ deal. Sort of de jeavu with the TouchPad blowout.

However, a few days ago I installed and ran the Clean Master app, which freed up ~ 1 GB of memory and I haven't had any issues.

The 'ol HP is running good, which now makes my decision whether to jump on the Nook deal a bit more difficult.

The other 2 Touchpads in the family are not rooted and are running well too.
