Acura : NSX NSX in Acura | eBay Motors I was about to pull the trigger on this car and thankfully did some research to find it sold last month on eBay with 85k miles. Now listed with 46k miles, the seller lied and told me he had the car for a few years and the mileage was accurate now since busted he claims it's exempt and had a new dash put in. BEWARE THIS CAR HAS 85K + MILES. IF YOU GOOGLE THE VIN IT WILL SHOW THAT THE LAST SALE ON EBAY FROM SELLER NAME: BRB74464 I EMAILED THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND HE CONFIRMED IT WAS SOLD WITH 85K MILES. THE CURRENT SELLER BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 85K FOR $25,300 AND NOW HAS IT LISTED WITH 46K AT $30,000. BUYER BEWARE!
Here's the email the previous owner sent me: Alex, that is crap. Prior to auction end, he had offered to pay 29k for it right after I listed it, never followed through, and then the auction went through I lowered the reserve as i needed to free up some space. Had I known that he would have ended up with it after having a handshake deal for around 26, I would not have sold it. Now, to roll back the mileage, I did not realize people still did that, or even that you could. But you are correct. That is it, and he is trying to make a quick 5 to 8 grand. The carfax is clean, but the sides were keyed a couple years ago, and I spend 6k repainting it. It has been repainted, which is diff from his listing. It is why it looks that good that he can roll back mileage and get away with it. Thanks for update on it as it is interesting, Brian
Also, after futher research looks like the current seller might be a fchatter under the userame: RSKDSK
So lets get the facts straight! I bought the car and got it with the left side of the dash not working. I paid over $1500 to get it repaired and never even ask the past owner for a red cent ... who screwed who here! It was never disclosed to me. The dash came from used parts store (can not get new) and shows 46k miles. I titled and listed the car as mileage exempt because of this! The last owner told me it had never been repainted ... so if he is now saying that it was ... again who lied to who! The original poster even offered to still buy the car for 28k ... I have the TX and I told him no, so now he is trashing me and the car ... GET A LIFE reject!
The mileage is somewhere around 39k more than what shows on it. I reported the discrepancy when I registered the car ... they changed the title from mileage known to mileage exempt. That is why I listed the car as mileage exempt. As for weather the car has had any paint work ... I still have the email from the past owner indicating that it had not. Now that the ***** above has posted his the past owners email, I am confronting the past owner to find out what the real story is. Bottom line ... I would not reduce the price for the ***** and now he is trashing the car. I have had numerous questions about the car and I have disclosed the dash replacement!
BTW I did not buy the car for $25300 ... I paid more ... again get your facts straight before posting.
This guy is seriously ridiculous. Here's the texts to follow - These messages were after we settled on 30k and i was about to buy the car. Good thing i did more research.. The ad i was buying from was a previous ebay listing he ended when he knew i was on to something was not right. The prior ad had no mention of exempt miles or anything. It stated 46k miles. I gave him the advice to sell it exempt to protect himself and was giving him the benefit of doubt, til it came very clear today when i was in contact with the previous owner that Rick bought the car from last month with 85k miles. Text messages: August 12 around 7pm ME: When you google the VIN a previous ad comes up a month ago with 85k miles. Should I be concerned? I just want to make sure the mileage is legit, if you say it's real i'll proceed. Rick: I am concerned with that ad, that seems to be a Chinese ad. ME: OK Like i said im ok, just taking your word. You didn't buy this car last month with 85k miles? Im good to go. Rick: I am concerned that someone hijacked my vin, I am going to end the auction and contact authorities.... I do not like this. This guy is a complete moron.
Really contact the authorities ... oh no what will I do! I have done nothing wrong you pathetic a$$ wipe. The TX is because he showed me an ad where the car was listed in China ... that is it!
BTW: The first ad read actually the same ... look it up! italiafan ... I guess you must know the true as well. wow, what a bunch of idiots!
Rick, Why did you say you owned the car for 5 years? You had it less than a month. Were CLEARLY not the idiots here. You even proceeded to validate the 46k miles as accurate since carfax and autocheck had no mention of miles on the reports. Did you forget that too? By law in most states odo's are exempt after 10 years, but that doesn't mean try to pass off a car with less miles that it actually has. That's exactly what took place here. Lies, lies, and lies. FLORIDA, A place with lots of sunshine and shady characters.
We don't know each other, but it's hard to ignore how dishonest it is that the Ebay ad lists the mileage as 46K. Putting in "mileage exempt" in the last sentence of the car's description doesn't undo what can only be described as an outright lie, IMO. It may not even cover you legally.
Which, as you know, is meaningless. (Replaced the dash doesn't automatically mean you switched out the dials. Switching out the dials doesn't mean you report whatever is on the new set as the cars mileage. People rightfully assume that whatever you listed under mileage is, wait for it, the car's actual mileage.) Anyway, as long as whoever shops Googles the car you'll get market value, which is all any honest person would want.
Folks - I can understand there may be heated feelings, but some of the names that have been used for other users on this thread are unacceptable (reject, idiot, asswipe, moron, thief, etc.). Please clean it up.
Well, that isn't the whole story. I put down a $500 deposit on the car at the price of $29k thinking that the mileage was correct at 46,000. You ended the auction when I sent the deposit. I never noticed the "mileage exempt" language until after I had made arrangements with the seller. I don't know if that's because I missed it or because the ad was edited. I can't say for certain. ------------------------ After running carfax and realizing that was not the case (autocheck didn't report the mileage), I thought about it and decided that I didn't want anything to do with the car for anything close to that money. Seller offered to refund me the deposit, minus listing fees. I'm out $150, but I'm glad I didn't get the car. I'm not here to pass judgements about the sellers intentions or the quality of the car, I'm just explaining what happened on my end. There is a thread about this car on NSX prime as well. Listing the car at 46k miles, no matter the intention, was a very unwise choice considering that this is a very small community of car buyers and word gets around fast about issues with sellers/cars.
You can not use mileage exempt for covering mileage discrepancy. That is breaking a federal law. There are states that say vehicles are automatically mileage exempt after 10 years but that has nothing to do with replacing a dash with a mileage different than the car actually has. The box you should have checked on the title application was TMU- True mileage unknown. You are breaking a Federal law by selling the car as mileage exempt. Especially if you try not to disclose the details. A car dealer just got 7 years in Jail for doing the same thing you are trying to do on hundreds of cars. Buying mileage exempt cars, rolling the miles and reselling to unassuming buyers. Is 4k worth it really?
Ebay could tell you if the ad was edited after you put your money down, at which point they may intervene on your behalf. Same goes with credit card companies.
