a few photos from Saturday after the historics at Laguna Seca in Monterey. They parked me in the boonies... but the car was filthy cool when I returned. And she was in good company for a moment, then abandoned. Couldn't decide on one good photo so put a few up. The one day I wish I had my good camera. Though these seem to have that 70's cool coloring and fuzziness. It seemed oddly eerie to walk across the field to only see these 2 cars out there.

Sweet ride mate. There's a RHD car for sale in the UK with the same exterior and interior colour scheme. Very nice!

I love the second shot. Reminds me of a photo from an 80's-era magazine article featuring 5 exotic convertibles including the 328, obviously). Congrats!

Ah, Augustine...had a thought about you last week, I've been looking this stunning GTB that was for sale in Luxembourg, a stupendous time capsule with 3500 original miles on the odo, as pretty as they come. No, it's not mine, but I was saying to myself that you would probably have liked the color?
The pic comes from the sales add...

Wow! I've never seen an early Azzurro GTB! Actually, I'm not sure I've ever seen a GTB in Azzurro! Great find. Thank you for thinking of me! :)

Sean, here is the photo I was referring to. It's from the July 1988 issue of Road & Track. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pic.

Not sure if anyone knows this car, it is on the "Ferrari 308" wikipedia page.

When I saw it, I really liked the rims. Not the typical look, muted, kind of grayed. I thought they were some sort of special European rim, given the bumper. Then I looked closer and they are actually just dirty! But I think a set of rims with this look would be really cool. Has anyone ever done this or seen rims like that? Thoughts?

I believe that car is running a set of rear wheels on the front as well as the back. On second look, the front wheels might be installed in the rear. How does that happen?

my 84 Euro QV...due to the lack of history (period..none..zip..zilch..nada), and the work that needs to be done (heavy in the suspension and interior department), I'm probably going to convert it to a track day car....and Im going to get rid of those HUGE shields on the side.

It came up here a few times as one of the cars to "stay away from." I think one of the guys on the board posted that they offered $22k for it. I didnt pay much more than that for the car, but it's a driver with a fresh coat of cheap paint that shows nicely. Functionally, everything works (minus the hazard light switch), and I dont plan on doing anything irreversible to the car, but I own cars and motorcycles to use, not to stare at. I figure I'll run it in some road rallies and do some of the local track days at MSR, and Hallett. Either way, lots of video will be coming.

Went out for a pointless drive last night - first in my Alfa than jumped directly into the Ferrari. Not a bad way to spend the evening!

Did you try to trace it with the châssis number? It doesn't always work, but who knows?

I checked, didn't get much off the internet, except a dealership in Florida that had it. searching the number on the site yielded a thread about that..and I believe a member had traced it to a dealership in Tennessee and then Louisiana before that. Each time it seems the PPI's had more wrong with it the further back it got, and the asking price kept getting cheaper. If this were a 1969 Mustang, no one would question it's condition and history...and it would probably be a very solid example. But, this is a Ferrari, and there is a different set of expectations. There is some evidence of an accident on the passenger side. According to Lamborghini of Dallas, the timing belt is fine, but no telling when it was last replaced. Mechanically, almost everything works, although I have had to do things like adjust the parking brake, tighten up the mirrors, etc.

What about a PM to the real experts on this site: NNO (carbon) for its North American history, and Matthias Urban for the European one? That should bring some light, hopefully...
Otherwise, I guess that if she had a small mishap in her life, but it has been correctly taken care of, and if its actual condition is good, you should be fine after having a good maintenance performed one day: you would be able to date the change of belts, etc...
But it's true that I see it from an European point of view, where we do not have such things as PPI or carfax, and are used to judge more from the car's condition...
