    +1

I bought several kits from CMC and they do leave you with a lot to fix. But that's still better than not having a kit at all. Plus their stuff does cost less than e.g. a MG kit.

I'll happily continue to do business with them knowing full well, that it will be a challenge.

Is it, okay my mistake, I thought were two different companies
Here's the link to the Mexican based company:
Porsche 911 RSR Turbo LeMans 1974 1 12 Big Scale Resin Model Kit | eBay

...and a couple of pictures of kit as delivered, very different from the photos in eBay listing

My experience is that you're best off by finding replacement parts from other kits. And a Dremel tool. :)

    True!
Fortunately that's not a kit I bought, but a member from a modeling forum, but shows the real state of the thing
These days, I seem to be scratch building ALL my own stuff ;)

How are those MFH photo books? I've been pondering a P3/4 one, and now the 917 is striking my fancy. How's the quality of the pictures and printing?

The first P4 book is amazing with alot of perfect color Kodachrome photos and has English captions. The second book is also very nice. The 917 book is also very good. The Monaco 1967 book has some rare shots of Bandini before the crash and some good shots of all the F1 cars. Joe Honda does all the photography for these books so they are limited to the races he attended.

Another new one from CMM, the BRM P261 in 1/12th scale. This company has some great ideas and their master maker is pretty good, but he is more of a sculpter than a model maker. On cars like this BRM they took shortcuts. For example the engine covers on this BRM are not flat blocks. They are very complicated with BRM written into the cover. CMM will just leave them flat.

If you buy one of these kits expect to do alot of scratch building. They are not as expensive as MG or ABC models but will require even more work than those companies kits.

If you want a kit in 1/12th scale that falls together and looks stunning when completed buy one of the Mini Delta Ferrari P3 kits or Hiro F1 kits. They are worth the extra money(then again Hiro and MiniDelta have not done a BRM P261)

    Darn.

Why bother, that kit is already available.

I asked them to do a mid nineties car. Those don't exist as kits. I wish they'd go that direction instead of covering plowed ground. :( Or if it has to be seventies cover the ultra rare B3.

I'd be surprised if they make the November date, but then Tamiya needs to catch up in some way since even Aoshima has been upstaging them lately with new plastic model kit releases, but let's hope they do it proper justice in a full engine & detail level of the enthusiast series (my hope) ;)

Nice. Grand Prix Models is taking pre-orders. Here's hoping they do a 1/12 version in a year or two. There is so much detail in that car that is better represented in a larger scale model.

Coming from Model Factory Hiro in a new "Lightweight Kit Series" are a Porsche 718 RSK 1958 Lemans and 2 FIAT Abarth's in 1/24th scale curbside. next up is a Alfa Romeo TZ2 in 1/43rd scale I think in full detail!!. I wish they would do a vintage Ferrari in 1/12th scale that has not been done before. My choice would be a Ferrari 250 GTO 64 series II. Hiro seem to be all over the place with airplanes, warship and tank kits.

that finished model looks great, but perhaps deceiving as to what the CMM kit may or may not include, those wheels look milled aluminum vs. resin, and several details I can see not amongst the parts displayed there
