Haters gonna hate but the numbers don't lie. The Ford GT is an icon. Now all that said, when I pull up in my little kit car, the people oogliing the icon are going to need to stop by the chiropractor on the way home to get their necks fixed. Long live the king!

Would that be considered shlong swinging?

    Well said dbk.

For those that have not driven or ridden in a Ford GT, you need to. Great handling, mind blowing acceleration, and after 6 years of ownership. it has cost nothing to maintain.

I think a lot of people buying it now couldn't give a crap about this. While I don't disagree, it's not why people are spending such amounts for them now.

    It's about the money.

These low-mile cars are bought for speculation, but most GT's I see were bought to drive.

Also FWIW I think the GT is it's own car, and not some retro re-make car a-la the thunderbird, challenger, camaro etc.

I think Enzo resale values are pretty good...

Ferrari 250gto resale values kill Ford. Any Ford. Ever. What a stupid thread.

I think the thread is interesting. I own a 2005 Ford GT I bought new. I also own a 458 Ferrari and did own a 360 and a 430 in thier day.

Some of the older ferraris can go for millions, one of the rarest just sold for 430 million dollars a few years ago.

But give the Ford GT its due. It is a great car to look at and to drive. Its value surely will grow with time. I drive mine so the mileage is growing but still under 10K. As the one poster said they are very easy and inexpensive to maintain.

Ford has another car that may become a collector car. The Shelby GT-500 is a great drive with a wonderful exhaust note. It has 665hp. Some people would argue that the new Boss 502 Mustangs will also be collector cars. I have some collector friends that have bought these cars and put them in a bubble as an investment.

    Ford is doing good things.

All this means is that when you don't want the FGT any more you have more money than when you don't want the F car any more. But if you really like your car, resale is pretty irrelevant.

Now if you are just buying to speculate, you are not my people anyway and I'll just wait until you move on to the next shiny bauble. I would like a FGT, but not enough to jump into $300K madness. And the Heritage cars baffle me - it is color scheme only, right? Nothing that affects the way the car runs & drives. If I just had to have that scheme I'd just wrap one.

I'll bet none of you gleeflully tell your wife how much more her engagement ring is worth now than when you bought it.

    A great post.

What amases me is the Ford GT still drives as well and with power as well as most modern super cars.

When I bought mine the HP was quoted at 505hp now Ford on their web site is saying 550 hp. which is what it feels like.

Modern super cars with the F1 dual clutch are for the most part faster, That is okay because I like a manual so I can feel the power.

I hope Ford does not do a reup on this car. It will always look fresh in my view.

    Great thread :)

A Dino failed at sell at the Russo & Steele auction this weekend, at least that is the way it stood when I left. Red/tan. Very nice car. Bidding stalled at $315k.

Then get one for 200k and not 300 :)

And unless you got married 30 years ago the ring is still probably worth less than you paid. ;)

Ah, yes... about the Holman GT40's... unlike the superformance, they are actually built the same as the originals, with better materials. Challenge somebody who knows that thinks the superformance etc. are even close.

Relevant... a Dino, and Stratos have both proven to be solid investment grade drivers.

should I include some emoticon? Personally, I like the superformance etc. because they are fun. But they aren't anywhere near the praise level you have posted. Just my $.02 Yours isn't the real deal. Just a fun inspiration. Not even a recreation like the Holman cars.

Please continue. As I ask you before, what are the differences specifically between an SPF MkI and a H&M or an original for that matter. You don't know jack do you?

The least you could do is spend about 5 mins on Google before running your mouth about something you clearly know nothing about. They use some Wilwood brake components instead of Girling and they have aluminum uprights instead of magnesium. To their detriment they still use the Girling canisters which leak like a sieve and caused me to replace with a modern Tilton unit. What's even more funny is that H&M actually do some final drivetrain assembly and some minor tweaks to the SPF cars preparing them for historic racing. I will ask you again, please explain the differences in detail between an SPF car and an original?

So what you are saying is since the SPF cars don't have these mods that they are in fact closer to the original than the H&M cars? I ask you for differences between an SPF car and an original. Your "base answer" is mindless drivel you copied off the internet.

Damn, isn't there another forum you can on and on, and on and on, and on and on about that SPF? Seems like every thread you post in circles back to your car.

I do it just because it bothers you...

Actually, I love the Ford GT and if you bothered to read it was some other knucklehead that decided to go there. But since you seem to enjoy it so much how about those SPF GT40s? They are crushing the F360s in value!!

My thoughts are that the GT is in a bit of a bubble and that bubble will burst at some point and the prices will come back down. I do not think they will drop below original MSRP though. The GT is a truly special car and those that talk badly about them have probably never driven one or you just aren't a real car guy. When compared to the 360, 430 and 458, the GT will maintain its value and those cars will all be (or become) the "old Ferrari" when a new model comes out. For better or worse, Ford isn't going to build another GT anytime soon. Ferrari will continue to sell as many V8 cars as they can crank out. (At least until demand drops and they publicize the "fact" that they are cutting production to ensure exclusivity)

If you like American torque AND an amazing sports car platform, the GT is the answer. High speed stability is terrific. Reliability is amazing. I went to a GT only mile + event and there was not one mechanical failure. The cars blasted to 200MPH over and over all day long. Some modified cars went over 230 over and over with no failures and stock engine internals. Build quality and fit and finish is far superior to any Ferrari that I have seen.
