    That's crazy. I have a 993TT and its incredible.

Better than the 3.6 which I also really like.

lots of "interesting" comments in here (and thats being nice).

$8k per year to maintain a 993 turbo? thats insanity.

I have a 90k mile 993TT. I've put about 25k miles on it. They have their issues, but once u spend a little money to sort them out, running costs are reasonable.

You can get a top end for $8k.

From doing my own research, i found out that 993TT have quite raised prices is parts and need a lot of maintenance, perhaps more expensive to maintain than my 2000 360.
I heard of guy last year, he bought a 993TT with a major full service done 10k$+, everything except the turbos. After two weeks of driving he ended up in the garage for turbos replacement...

You can rebuild turbo's for a reasonable sum of money.

I would bet that averaging out over 10 years, your average enthusiast 993 Turbo owner (not a collector) spends less than $1,500 a year on maintenance. They are very low-maintenance cars all things considered.

I love the 94 Turbo 3.6, but it's not as driver friendly as either or my 993 TTs. But then again, I am a huge fan of the 930 and the 1986-1989 911 Turbos. The single turbo cars have a lot of lag and get "tail happy" which in turn makes me happy! Long story short, I will need 1 of every 911 turbo variation; air cooled of course. I really could care less about the the Mercedes Turbos, I mean the water cooled cars ;)

You are absolutely doing it wrong if this is what you've found.

    Air filter, $25
    Oil filters, $30 for both
    Oil, mobil 1 vtwin, 10 quarts, $100
Plugs, $6 each, maybe 3 hours of labor for an experienced tech
    plug wires, $400
    Dizzy cap, $50
    rotor, $15
    4 quarts tranny fluid, $45
Hood struts, $60 for the set
    Full RS clutch kit, $1800
    Turbo rebuild, about $1500
Valve guides replaced (top end) including labor, $8k
Rotors, $240 each up front, $140 each in back...pads about $180 per axle
    Belts, $45 for the set

Even if you did plugs, wires, oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid, dizzy cap/rotor, etc each year, you would get nowhere near $10k.

Whatever you have been reading is plain bull****.

Not to mention, no belt jobs.

dont think so. 993tt will be much less expensive to maintain than a 360. i guess if you benchmark the worst horror story of a 993tt against a stellar 360 that might not be the case. always the danger of limited sample size.

    Agreed.

I have had a 993tt for over 10 years with very little maintenance issues.

    Basically bullet proof.

I did have to replace the battery a few times!

You should def drive the 993tt to make sure it scratches the itch. It's a fabulous car to drive and I recall mine being very reliable. IMO, the biggest "downside" of the 993tt vs the 360 is that the Porsche doesn't rev high and doesn't have a particularly exiting engine/exhaust note. For some people that aural component is a big part of the experience and the Ferrari has that part nailed.

Agree about the exhaust note in stock form not being very exciting. However, this is easily solved for as little as $500 with muffler bypass pipes. Best $500 I've spent on mine by far.

u cant go wrong with 993 turbo......

your bigger concern is going to be finding one to buy unless you have an open checkbook mentality.
