Tomorrow's going to be a lottery, I think. There is a good chance that the podium will look entirely different than the starting grid. He who most effectively anticipates changing conditions will be in the best shape. As we've seen in the past, that can easily go either way (against Ferrari and for Button/McLaren in a few races the previous 2 seasons).

If the race turns out to suprisingly be dry, then FA has a good chance to move up the grid...Merc could actually move backwards (RBR should be okay in either instance...unfortunately)

 

Unfortuantely the F138 is trash in the rain. We need it to stay dry. The Merc has poor top end, I don't suspect Hamilton to be leading at the end of the first lap, even he if gets a good start.

 

Any period of domination is boring. Whether it was Senna's, Prost's, Schumacher's or now Vettel's. The first couple of championships are cool because they're news. Then it gets stale fast. Call it flip/flop if you like.

If that all were true, then MS would be a fool for having given up a year too early.

The way I see it is that Hamilton's input began at the first test session early this year and kept on going throughout the season constantly improving the car.

I forgot who it was (either Brawn or Lauda) who said, that the driver change was one of the most important decisions they made for the benefit of the car development.

Wasn't me who brought up the topic again. I'm perfectly fine if I don't have to see any other mention of the name MS again.

Link? I haven't seen anything of the sort. Even if it was said, I'm betting it was Lauda who doesn't know his dick from a doorknob and also has an agenda to make the LH to Merc move look good because he was instrumental in making it happen.

It is actually the Quadriga, which sits on top of the Berlin Gate. But close enough.

Not quite true. Haven't posted about him in a while and that's just fine with me.

I'm only rebuking claims that he wasn't beaten by Nico or that he had just bad luck and the like.

MS remains the most successful F1 driver of all times (and that's probably never gonna change) and was at the top of the game for many years beating everybody left and right. He had the best car, but he made it so. Absolutely no denying his superior speed, racing craft and talent.

But it is equally true that his time was up when he joined MB and got beaten by a midfield driver. Nico is no slouch but he is not top echelon material either.

Or to put it differently: The MS from 2004 would have blown Nico into the weeds in any of the Mercs they drove.

Aging is a *****.

 

Nico's car has failed on him 3 times and Nico has 2 wins and a number of poles to his names not to mention Nico was undoubtedly quicker than Lewis today, hands down. Nico didn't get the lap in when grip was best, that's racing and luck is what it is as Fernando once again stated today. No one since Fernando has held up and stopped Lewis like this before, and according to Brundle there is nothing between the two other than luck. They are both top drivers driving on an echelon very few have seen and I will leave it at that.

Honest to God I much rather send some your way if that meant we won't have another Vettel WDC. Seriously.

These bets are fun but utterly irrelevant compared to who walks home with the title. A fourth (in a row, to add insult to injury!) title for the same driver is just so effin boring. And I'm a huge Vettel fan.

 

You can make and create your own luck, clearly Ham is the faster guy, or lets put it another way cream really does rise to the top.

Nico I would imagine by now has been given the supporting role to help Ham anyway.

 

Admirable post, I agree consistent year after year wins from same team same guy is utterly boring.

 

I disagree simply because one extra pole, 4-3, does not mean Nico should be counted out or relegated to a supporting role for Hammy. Nico has two wins and Lewis only has one.

I'll like Vettel when he puts on a red driving suit. Same thing happened with Alonso, I couldn't stand him when he was battling MS. Now he's my favorite (with Kimi a close second).

Points difference is the main thing, Nico has no chance at 84, Ham has a slight chance at 124.

Vet is at 172.

 

Only a grim scenario would prevent a 4th Vettel title.

 

I have no wish for that at all, Fred Kimi Ham can unfortunately take points of each other, but one can hope, if the guy in the best of the rest cars which I now figure is Ham in the Merc can keep winning and Fred or Kimi can keep finishing in front of Vet then it is feasible.

Wishful thinking maybe.

Oh I forgot about the Webster he can help Vet, but maybe now he is just out for himself, I wouldn't blame him.

 

And I am certainly not trying to work out all the mathematical permutations and combinations.

Can't see Mark willingly giving points to anyone unless it comes down to the last race and Vettel needs them.

Yea... especially as it's his last season in F1, I don't think Mark will give Vettel so much as the time of day, let alone help with the Championship this year.
